In this article are some athletes poised to have big seasons this upcoming fall and are eager to get their names out there to colleges around the country. To multi-sport athletes, multiple 1st team all-region, and even a 4.1 GPA, these student athletes are going to make sure you pay attention in the coming months.
[player_tooltip player_id="358620" first="Jake" last="Weidinger"]│Wide Receiver│6’3" 180 lbs│Flagstaff
[player_tooltip player_id="358620" first="Jake" last="Weidinger"] has great size, and the talent comes with it. at 6’3", Weidinger has great ball tracking ability and high points the ball very well. His ability to go up high for the ball, especially on go routes down the sideline, allows him time to possess the ball and find himself in bounds. Great moves off the line of scrimmage, giving him plenty of space to work with. His motor is off the charts, tracking back on turnovers, pancake blocks down the field to spring his teammates for touchdowns, and even plays on the defensive side of the ball for Flagstaff High. While Jake is a great route runner already, improving on quick stops and accelerating out of his breaks could make him break through the next level. And by the looks of his off-season workouts and his work at camps this summer, he has already worked on it greatly.

Will Way│Defensive End│6’4" 240 lbs│Pusch Ridge Christian Academy
6’4" 240 lbs and Will Way is listed as a 4.88 forty-yard dash, scary to think about. Way has great size and being the only defensive player on this list is definitely saying something. He plays with very high football IQ, reads the play very quickly and makes the right decision. He does not get too far up the field on run plays, fills his assignments very well, and can get to the quarterback as well. My favorite play in Will’s Hudl is during a run play, someone came from the opposite side of the formation to block him out, and he used his proper shoulder to take on the block, stuck the player in his tracks, shed him off and made the play on the ball. He did about four things correct in a three second span to make a play in the backfield. You are getting a solid, smart player in Will Way for your football team.

[player_tooltip player_id="358586" first="Dailan" last="Goodman"]│Running Back│5’11" 190 lbs│Salpointe Catholic
Goodman is a hard-nosed, downhill runner for Salpointe Catholic. Rushing for over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns last season, expect a heavier workload for Goodman, and for good reason. Playing mostly out of the pistol, lining up behind his QB, Goodman exceled in the power running game. He runs very hard, downhill, and always finishing his runs falling forward which is an awesome small detail to catch when watching running backs. It takes a lot to push him back, which rewards him a couple times during the season, falling forward into the end zone for six points for his squad. Would love to see him played in the slot a few times a game, to show off his skillset in space and allow him to get the ball outside the tackles easier. And with Goodman hitting our Arizona ranks, expect more eyes on him this upcoming year.

[player_tooltip player_id="214119" first="Cristian" last="Pando"]│Running Back│5’10" 185 lbs│Willcox
Another hard nose running back in the state of Arizona. [player_tooltip player_id="214119" first="Cristian" last="Pando"] thrived in the running game last season and expect the same this season. Quick speed in between the tackles allows him to get to the second level and break away for six. Great power to shed off would be tacklers, he has great combination of speed and power in his running game. Pando has 5 camps this summer on the horizon, he will have plenty of opportunities to show off his skill and get on the coach’s radars. I am excited to see how his summer goes, because I know he has the talent to go play and make an impact at the collegiate level.
