The Pre-Season all state team is put together based on how each individual athlete is projected to do this coming fall, along with team success which plays heavily into the selection process. Have a look at the 5A Defense.
DL [player_tooltip player_id="278367" first="Brysen" last="Kachel"] 24’ West Albany- Kachel projects as more of an OLB but should dominate up front. His combination of size, speed and physicality puts into perspective why he was the only underclassmen in Oregon to earn all state honors on O & D.
DL [player_tooltip player_id="278375" first="Malcolm" last="I’aulualo"] 24’ Hood River- The big man racked up 1st team honors on O but he may project on D. Watch his film and you see a kid who has good size and is incredibly agile on the interior.
DL [player_tooltip player_id="278391" first="Deakon" last="Looney"] 24’ Mt View- Looney earned 2nd team all league accolades in the 6A MVC on O as a Sophomore. He is extremely talented and tough but projects more on D due to size.
DL [player_tooltip player_id="271376" first="Spencer" last="Elliott"] 23’ Summit- Eliiott garnered 2nd team all MVC honors on D to go with the 1st team accolades on O. Moving down to the 5A level he will most likely have his way with opponents.
DL [player_tooltip player_id="206875" first="Justin" last="Brehm"] 24’ Crater- The Comets are always one of the better 5A teams in the state and they have a nice young group coming up.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="110182" first="Chip" last="Allers"] 23’ Summit- I would expect one of the best seasons in recent memory from Allers this fall. He recently added his first few D1 offers and should land numerous others before he is done. He will be the overwhelming favorite for defensive POY honors with [player_tooltip player_id="110176" first="Demarcus" last="Houston"] right there as well.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="271368" first="Braden" last="Snoderly"] 23’Canby- Snoderly put up some big #s as a junior (97 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss). Depending on how Canby does as a team he could project as a conference and state player of the year candidate.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="110215" first="Vaun" last="Halstead"] 23’ Thurston- Definitely a conference POY favorite and one of the state’s top returners at the 5A level. His 59 total tackles and 18.5 tackles for loss was impressive, to go along with his 6-1 215-pound frame.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="223215" first="Romynn" last="Leslie Schaefer"] 23’ Churchill- Schaeffer was all over the place as a junior, making 106 total tackles and earning 1st team all-conference accolades. He is an experienced leader who will be one of 5A’s best.
LB [player_tooltip player_id="278444" first="Andy" last="Soles"] 24’ Canby- One of the fastest rising 24’s in Oregon. Soles has size and can run. He is coming off an impressive sophomore season where he made 33 total tackles.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="110176" first="Demarcus" last="Houston"] 23’ West Albany- Watch Houston’s film and you see a kid who could dominate the state at the 5A level. If you let him roam and play freely in the secondary, he will pick off double digit passes.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="217272" first="Charlie" last="Ozolin"] 23’ Summit- Another kid who has a stock that is rising quickly. Ozolin covers a lot of ground. He earned 2nd team all MVC honors at the 6A level and will be a POY candidate this season.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="207256" first="Tyler" last="Konold"] 24’ Canby- As good as he is on O, he should be one of the best in the state on D. He made 48 total tackles as a sophomore and could pick off a handful of passes to boot.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="110232" first="Brady" last="Crenshaw"] 23’ Lebanon- One of the best players in Oregon at the 5A level. Crenshaw will be a three-year starter and potentially a 1st team all-league guy on both sides of the ball, where the Warriors could feature him on offense.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="110233" first="Darien" last="Witham"] 23’ Thurston- Witham had a phenomenal junior season earning 1st team all-conference honors. His 45 total tackles (29 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2 INTs speak to his versatility, while also doing an outstanding job as an undersized QB (8 TDs/0 INTs).
DB [player_tooltip player_id="152362" first="Ethan" last="Burkhead"] 24’ Thurston- If Burkhead can stay injury free the sky’s the limit. He is one of the fastest kids in the state for his class and could be a leader statistically within Oregon.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="285889" first="Corbin" last="Davis"] 25’ Putnam- As a freshman he earned 2nd team all conference honors. Davis looks like one of the top young athletes in the state regardless of classification. Him and Eveland give hope to a program that has been down and out for years.
DB [player_tooltip player_id="285874" first="Nick" last="Crowley"] 25’ Wilsonville- Crowley impressed on offense as a freshman averaging 11.4 yards per catch and grabbing 2 TDs. I like him to be one of the state’s best on D where he was influential as a youngster as well.
