Washington has a ton of hidden gems that need to be discovered. Take a look at five sleepers to get your eye on as we head into the fall:

Fugate is an impressive player that hasn’t drawn a ton of attention, which is strange given his 6’3" 195lb frame. He stands tall and poised in the pocket with moxy and delivers throws with good accuracy and timing. He’s shown a good self clock to be patient for routes to develop, yet knows when to take off when that pocket breaks down. He does a good job extending plays when he needs to and doesn’t really seem to force throws. He does a good job throwing with touch vs velocity against certain coverages in various situations, and holds loads of potential to light up the state in 2022.

In my opinion, Meade is a true D1 talent. He sizes up with a college ready frame at 6’5" 275lbs with excellent length and holds position versatility to play both Guard and Tackle. Excellent pass set with an impressive center of gravity to hold ground well at the POC, where his length also helps. He moves lateral well and has shown the ability to kick out to reach those quick edge rushers when at LT. Smart and solid in the run game with strength at the POA, and a big upside moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="333710" first="Wyatt" last="Gordon"], DB/LB, Puyallup ’23
I can’t believe Gordon has to be listed as a sleeper as we enter the season. 141 total tackles, 20 TFL’s, 6 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles as that Nickel/LB hybrid type of guy with excellent reaction and play strength. He does a phenomenal job roaming the field and has the football IQ to play nearly anywhere as needed on the defensive side of the ball. He does a great job recognizing and flying through opening alleys to explode through the tackle. Coast to coast range with a big striking ability from all angles. This kid is a game changer that is well deserving of his first offer.
Tayveon Sy, LB, Mariner ’23
Sy is a kid that could easily take a huge leap entering his senior season and become that defensive menace for Mariner. He does a great job timing the snap to initiate a quick initial ball get off, and has flashed glimpses of bend and violent hands, and a solid striking ability when he can get squared up. Good size at 6’1" 220lbs and he moves well within that frame. Based off his skillet, I think he has the ability to move inside at the next level in a 3-4 defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="155609" first="Lateibreon" last="Chandler"], ATH, Auburn ’23
Chandler has quite a bit of untapped potential in him, and should be that playmaker for Auburn in 2022. Solid route runner with a strong ability to find and sit in the soft spot of zone coverage to give his QB a clear window. He’s shown glimpses of making opponents miss after the catch with nice COD when he sticks and lunges back. He does a good job reading the QB’s eyes when manned up at DB and stays over the top in cover 3 to not get beat deep. I’d like to see him take advantage of big plays more and finish with speed, which I think could be in the mix for him often this season.
