For 2 years now, players within this class have already taken steps forward to put their talent on tape, and compete with some of the best players the state has to offer. Because of this, we believe that this class has a high upside as a whole, regardless of where players are located throughout the state. Below, we have included some of our other favorite players from the 2024 class, who are worth checking out before the 2022 season is underway in a few months.
Micah Welch Micah Welch 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Baldwin | 2024 State GA – Baldwin (RB)
Even though Welch may not have the biggest body and frame, he runs very well for his size. Welch has good short area quickness, but we would like to see him utilize his long speed more efficiently. In addition to this, Welch has a very good twitch, and plays with good vision at the line of scrimmage. He gets in and out of his cuts very queenly, and he gains great yards on the ground because of this. With this, he changes direction well, and catches the ball efficiently out of the backfield. This creates unbalance for the defense, thus resulting in positive plays for him and his offense. To conclude, not only does Welch finish plays consistently, but we think that his shiftiness will continue to prove to be a positive factor for him next season. Look for his recruitment to jump next year as well.
Gavin Hall Gavin Hall 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Gainesville | 2024 State GA – Hebron Christian Academy (QB)
While Hall may not be the most polished quarterback in the state, he does a decent job of playing within his team’s scheme, and distributing the ball efficiently. This is why we view him as a quarterback who is trending upwards. Hall not only uses his legs and athleticism to buy him time in a pocket, but he is also an escape artist, posing a huge threat to defenses. Hall throws very well on the run, but needs to work on the way that he squares his shoulders and plants his feet. In addition to this, his overall footwork as a whole may be a little bit inconsistent, but we are impressed by his vision, and ability to react quickly to would-be tacklers. Look for him to continue to develop as a passer, especially in the intermediate range, going into next season. Regardless, he will continue to perform very well for his team, and will be a standout player in his region next season.
Clark Jackson- Aquinas (LB)
Even though Jackson has plenty to learn, he still shows flashes of being a great player at his young age. He gets to ball carriers very well in pursuit, and reacts well within the box. In addition to this, Jackson also plays well and provides great physical contact for his defense. He does a decent job of stopping the run, but can be a bit stiff when playing the pass. Even though his overall drop step in initial reads are very clean, the way he runs very high, can create wasted movement. If he can continue to develop in his mechanics, and ability to move cleanly, he will see his game step up to the next level in 2022.
Jalewis Solomon Jalewis Solomon 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Schley County | 2024 State GA – Schley County (WR/DB)
To conclude this list, we wanted to take some time to give the proper attention to Solomon. He is not only very talented, but he also has potential to develop into one of the best receivers in the state. Not only does Solomon track the ball extremely well, but he catches with good, clean hands, and does a great job of positioning his body when he does so. In addition to this, Solomon also plays with good speed, and a solid burst. This puts him in a decent place to make plays after the catch. With this, he also runs consistently crisp routes, allowing his quarterback to get him the ball quickly. All of this, and we also like his ability to play defense, which we think sets him apart due to his fluid movement skills, and speed. Look for him to have a breakout season this year.
