The players were selected by coaches from around the state. They went through the traditional combine drills: L-Cone, 40-yard dash, broad jump and they were also measured.
Here are some quick hitters and standouts from the afternoon session for the Class of 2024:
McKenzie Atterberry | QB | Blackville-Hilda
During the L-Cone Drill, Atterberry looked like a defensive back making his cuts – he certainly fits the mold for the position. He is tall and lanky. We’ll have more on him later.
Francis Aiken | RB | Ridge View
Aiken displayed good power on his run during the 40-yard dash and exploded to the finish line.
Jadyn Simpkins | DB | Silver Bluff
Simpkins checked in at 5’9 and was close to 150 pounds. He looked quick in his lateral movements and finished the run during the L-Cone drill.
Ethan Chandler | DB | Southside Christian (pictured)
Chandler had an impressive stride which allowed him to finish his run strong during the 40-yard dash. He ran a 4.8 in the 40.
Noah Wyatt | DB | North Augusta
Wyatt made an excellent pass breakup on a well thrown ball that was an out route during the individual period between defensive backs and quarterbacks. He timed his jump just right to prevent the completion.
Making Yunusah | DB | Marlboro County
Yunusah’s timing on a pass play during the individual period between quarterbacks and defensive backs was impressive. He broke up a pass that would’ve been a completion.
