Their are many top dogs in the city of Houston that are going to be playing in college as well, but today we will be analyzing underrated prospects concerning skill positions. We will be looking into Quarterbacks, Running Backs, and Wide Receivers and see who is on the rise! Some of these young men have the speed, strength, and the size to compete with the best of them as well. Without further due, let’s take a look at some up and coming prospects for the 2022 season!
Taji Atkins- 5’8 175Ibs/RB,SB/ Westfield High School
Analysis: Taji Atkins is a running back in the class of 2024 to look for this upcoming season. He clocks a 4.5 40 yard dash, benches 250Ibs and squats 415ibs, which are pretty impressive combine numbers. On the gridiron, he has shown he has the speed to run away from anybody! He possesses great ball carry vision as well hitting the holes on time. You can use this young man in the slot position as well. That way you can spread the field and keep the defense on their toes. Atkins is also a very powerful back as well. He runs through tackles and can also juke out defenders in the gaps when needed. Look out for him at Westfield high school this year!
Deyon Batiste- 6’5 205Ibs/QB/ Cypress Park High School
Analysis: Deyon Batiste is definitely a player to look for for this upcoming season. He has a very pretty arm and is extremely accurate in his deep ball throws. Batiste does an excellent job at staying in the pocket, taking shots, and delivering tough throws! He has the build for a prototype division one quarterback. He has decent speed clocking a 4.8 40 yard dash as well, and does a tremendous job at going through his progressions in the game. Look for him to only improve and become great in the next two years!
Tracy James- 5’11 155Ibs/WR/ Cypress Ranch High School
Analysis: Tracy James has the potential to become a really good wide receiver. He has excellent speed clocking a 4.46 40 yard dash, and has very soft hands! James is also a very good route runner as well, and is a dangerous weapon in the open field. He is also a very good blocker, and one of the best yards after catch receiver in the class of 2024. You can use him to keep the defense honest at any time, because he is can take it to the house every time he touches the ball. With more training and development, look for Tracy James to become a top prospect in the future.
Wyatt Young- 6’0 165Ibs/QB,WR,RB,TE/ Katy Tompkins High School
Analysis: Wyatt Young is a huge threat to many defenses in the Houston Area. Young can kill opponents with his legs as well as his arm. He has break away speed in the open field leaving defenders in the dust, and can be helpful when he extends plays in the pocket! Young is an accurate deliverer with the ball as well and has enough power to push the ball down field! He is also an elusive player that can make defenders look silly in the open field! Look for him to become a star at Katy Tomkins High School!
Noah Allen-Cuellar- 5’10 188Ibs/RB/ Bridgeland High School
Analysis: Noah Allen-Cuellar is a sleeper player on this list, but he is a running back that has huge potential to become extremely dangerous to opponents. Noah is an extremely powerful running back possessing great strength, He has a very solid build, and is very elusive for his size. Cuellar has excellent vision when he runs the ball as well while hitting the open hole without hesitation! Just a sophomore last season, he is looking to become stronger and faster the next two years. Also, he is a very physical running back trucking anyone in his way! Look for him to turn the heads of college scouts and coaches in the next two years!
