The Prep Redzone WI Showcase saw a ton of talented signal callers take the field to show off their athleticism and arm talents. That talent led to several impressive testing numbers, and some big throws. Today, I want to highlight the top passers of the Showcase. This group is filled with dual sport athletes, big time varsity producers, next level talent, and players ready to breakout. Let’s get it started!
[player_tooltip player_id="217203" first="Luke" last="Novotny"], ’23- Milwaukee Marquette
The 6’4" 190 lbs dual threat QB took home QB MVP honors with his dominant day from start to finish. First off, he has the perfect frame for the next level. Luke started the day by putting together a great testing session. He ran 4.65 in the 40, broad jumped over 9’6", and ran 7.59 in the L Drill. When we went to throwing to receivers against air and in the 1 on 1 battles Luke stood out from the crowd. The lefty has a big arm, and he proved that he has developed a high level of accuracy and touch. He understood the leverage that was being played by defenders and was able to put the ball in places where only his man could go and get it. Luke proved to be a complete package on Saturday. Big frame, athletic, strong arm, accurate, and the touch to drop the ball in a bucket. Great start to his camp season!

[player_tooltip player_id="104992" first="Cade" last="Palkowski"], ’24- Oak Creek
Cade is one of the top 2024 QBs here in WI. He is a compact, strong QB at 5’10" 185 lbs. That powerful frame has allowed Cade to generate a lot of velocity on his passes. His baseball background definitely contributes to his arm talent as well. The ball jumps out of his hand after a quick snap release, and it carries it’s velocity all the way to the catch point. Palkowski was one of the top deep ball throwers for the showcase. He is also one of the top athletic testing QBs. He ran 4.81 in the 40, 7.28 in the L Drill, and cleared 9’1" on both of his broad jumps. The sophomore is also one of the more experience players in the group as he has been the full time varsity started since Week 1 of his freshman season. His size might not be for everyone, but the talent can’t be argued with. He is a college level talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="119282" first="Evan" last="Herbig"], ’23- Mukwonago
The 6’1" 175 lbs junior QB was one of the QBs that had my anticipation high for the event. He lived up to my expectations. He tested well to start the day. Evan ran 4.9 in the 40, 7.37 in the L Drill, and broad jumped over 9’8" giving us a glimpse into his dual threat, and agile play when he keeps it on the ground. Where he really stood out to me was in the drill work. Herbig’s feet are light as a feather. He demonstrated the ability to smoothly slide, and change directions in the pocket while maintaining proper technique. He is an effortless mover. In the throwing portion of the day, Evan stood out to me with his accuracy. He has a slightly unique release, but he puts the ball right where he wanted it consistently. Despite throwing to receivers that he isn’t familiar with. The junior lived up to the hype, and made sure he wasn’t overlooked in a talented 2023 QB Class.

[player_tooltip player_id="300654" first="Sal" last="Balistrieri"], ’23- Homestead
Sal lived up to my expectations. To start the day, he put on paper what he spent the fall putting on tape. The fact that he is a legitimate threat with his legs. The 6’ 190 lbs junior QB ran 4.76 in the 40, 7.16 in the L Drill, and board jumped 9’6". There is no questioning the Homestead athlete has track speed, and quick twitch agility and change of direction. That natural athleticism carried into a natural arm and overall throwing technique. His feet stay in sync with his upper half. His footwork is smooth, and he has the arm to attack every level of the field. Between the Showcase and his junior season, Sal proved that defenses need to cover the whole field as well as keep him in the pocket or he is going to hurt defenses. He is going to continue rising this summer as he tears up camps with his athleticism and natural arm talent.
Chase Brandl, ’25- Oshkosh West
The freshman had himself a strong showing at the Prospect Tour. He started the day running 4.68 in the 40, and his dual threat stood out to our National Scout during his film review before the event. Brandl also broad jumped nearly 9’. Chase is currently 5’9" 145 lbs, so his growth will be one thing that I follow over the coming years. The QB job is open for the taking, so I hope Chase can continue to put in the work in the weight room so he can fill out to a point where he can make the varsity jump. Future is looking bright for the young athlete.
