ALTOONA, IA-- This group might have been small as far as numbers, but as far as depth, they were absolutely loaded. I believe three of the four young men have what it takes to play college football in their near future at this given time of evaluation from last Saturday’s showcase at Southeast Polk. Take a look at the top four defensive linemen from the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase.

Obald has shown back to back weeks just how consistent this young man is in the trenches of the defensive line. He took home our DL Camp MVP last weekend. Those highly physical hands came out yet again last weekend at Southeast Polk and from what I caught from 1v1s, even showed increased technique with developing more skillsets from The Line Iowa Showcase a couple weeks ago. His ability from the start of snap to have such physicality allow him to become a quick menace into the backfield very quickly and catch tailbacks early in their tracks when they just got the football in their hands. He’s a quick shedder that gets off blocks very fast from the point of attack. I have a great feeling Obald will have a HUGE summer on the prospect camp circuit and pickup a handful of offers out of it. He has to have one of the best true nose tackle films I have watched in the Midwest most recently, and I have watched a lot.

If we handed out a runner up for DL Camp MVP in my eyes it would go to [player_tooltip player_id="239150" first="Luke" last="Lambert"] of Ashland-Greenwood. I liked watching Luke’s ability to work his angles last Saturday from his defensive line spot. His physicality and balance is what stuck out to me, as he played from a tough stance to not be take off his spot easily at all. His tape shows a sound job of work with his hands and his pad level shows off excellent value as a defensive end prospect. Luke also shows off a massive punch of physicality and plays with a gritty demeanor that I love to watch. Not blocking this young man will do your offense a complete disservice. I am actually really surprised this young man doesn’t have an offer yet, as he is a kid on this defensive line list I would offer right now.

[player_tooltip player_id="269240" first="William" last="Stobbe"] | Waukee (IA) | 2024
William shows off mostly tape from the offensive line, but I loved how he came out to our PRZ Iowa Showcase as a defensive end, to show growth on both sides of the ball and to improve his football IQ. This young man showed off at Southeast Polk a prospect that has terrific footwork and superb balance of staying at his level on a consistent basis. I love the violent physicality William plays with. This is a kid that with punish his man on both ends of the ball until that whistle blows the play done. He shows a significant push to the second level of the field on tape as he also grasps strongly with working his angles to stay on his feet and shove the defensive linemen well out of the way of his QB1. Certainly another prospect on this shortlist of linemen we had at Southeast Polk that has a future of playing on Saturdays, as he has had interest from as high as the Big Ten and the Missouri Valley, which would be a solid placement for him at the next level. Expect William to get PLENTY of attention this summer on the camp circuit. It’s hard to believe he’s just an incoming junior.

[player_tooltip player_id="333860" first="Leland" last="Faughn"] | Omaha Burke (NE) | 2024
Leland showed off some key athleticism last Saturday at Southeast Polk that caught the attention of BOTH of our PRZ scouts in attendance. For his size, this young man plays with a sizeable motor that what is what caught my eyes from watching his reps. I wasn’t able to find tape on Leland as of yet going into his junior season, but this under the radar defensive end prospect should catch some eyes going into his junior season at Omaha Burke from his production he showed at our Prep Redzone Iowa Showcase.
