New players emerged in the latest update, and we are happy to rank a number of different “under the radar” running backs in Middle Georgia. Here are some new Middle Georgia running back additions to the latest 2024 Prep Redzone Georgia Rankings.
Hevin Brown Shuler – Pace Academy
In Buckhead, and coming in at No. 15 in the updated 2024 Prep Redzone Rankings, is Pace Academy standout defender, Hevin Brown-Shuler Hevin Brown-Shuler 6'5" | 270 lbs | DL Pace Academy | 2024 State GA . A strong young prospect with plenty of size at at 6-foot-4 290-pounds, Brown-Shuler is thick, strong, and moves his feet well for his size. He’s quick off the ball, giving him an advantage over just about every opposing lineman he’s up against. He holds an impressive offer list already and certainly passes the eye test from a physical standout for someone in his class. The promising interior lineman is quick enough to shoot the gaps and blow up a play in the backfield, and he’s strong enough to get off blocks and drive his man backwards as well. He’s excellent in the run game, and as he develops a pass rush from the inside, the Atlanta native could turn into one of the top 2024 defenders in the country.
Nasir Smith Nasir Smith 6'4" | 295 lbs | DL Grayson | 2024 State GA – Grayson
Maybe the hottest prospect across the state right now, Smith is a young 2024 interior defensive lineman who has seen his recruitment take off this spring. College coaches that have seen a Grayson spring practice have been wowed by his overall frame at 6-foot-4 295-pounds and overall quickness off the ball. The Rams coaching staff is excited for his future, and he appears to be one of the top defenders on the front 7 for Grayson this fall. He’s a breakout candidate in the region and opposing offensive linemen in Gwinnett County better be ready for him this fall. He looks the part physically and ranked at No. 60 in the updated 2024 Prep Redzone Rankings.
Chase Morrison Chase Morrison 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Roswell | 2024 State GA – Roswell
One of the most productive EDGE defenders across North Georgia last year, Morrison is a tough defender with a solid frame at 6-foot-4 240-pounds. He has D1 size and was a force for the Hornet’s from 7 last year as a sophomore. He was all over the field and one of the team’s best defenders, making 86 tackles, 11 TFLs, 2 sacks, 6 QB hurries, and deflected two passes. He’s smart, instinctive, and plays the game the right way. He gets into the backfield in a hurry and has no problem plowing through blocks to make a play on the ball carrier. He flashes quite a bit, and it’s easy to see his potential as he consistently finds his way into the backfield. He does his job, play after play, and he’s bound for a monster junior season later this fall.
Kendall Farmer Kendall Farmer 6'1" | 280 lbs | DL Westlake | 2024 State GA – Westlake
Coming in at No. 81 in the Prep Redzone Rankings, Farmer was of the more productive interior defensive linemen across the 2024 class last fall. The Westlake standout lived in the backfield all season last year for the Lions, showing why he holds multiple D1 offers. He’s quick off the ball, and he knows how to get to the ball carrier before the play gets going. He’s strong, instinctive, and can be so tough to opposing linemen to handle. His 90 total tackles last season were among the most across the state for sophomore defensive linemen, and he did a lot of his damage from the interior. He’s excellent against the run, and while he isn’t the tallest or longest defensive linemen in the Atlanta area, he certainly plays bigger than his size. If he continues to add more mass and develop his craft as a pass rusher from the inside, Farmer could be one his way to a breakout senior season in 2022.
