New players emerged in the latest update, and there are plenty of rising sophomore running backs who are starting to make a name for themselves across Georgia. Here are some running backs who have seen their stock rise in recent weeks and in the latest 2025 Prep Redzone Georgia Rankings.
Donovan Johnson – RB – Calvary Day
The top-ranked 2025 running back in Georgia according to Prep Redzone, Johnson is a big-time freshman back to know about in the Savannah area, and he’s going to be a household name around the country sooner than later. He’s one of the hottest prospects in the state right now, and for good reason. He’s a big, bruising back with plenty of size at 6-foot-1 195-pounds and uses his size and power to his advantage. He’s as big as a senior and breaks tackles like one too. Johnson shows good strength, balance, vision, and again, the ability to break tackles. That’s what he does. He’s a big play waiting to happen and is tough to bring down by just one defender. Even as a freshman, Johnson has made a name for himself and could be one of the state’s best over the next few years. As a freshman, Johnson rushed 170 times for 1,336 yards and 10 touchdowns. He already holds offers from Auburn, USC, Georgia, Ohio State, among others. He’s also ranked as the No. 2 overall 2025 prospect in Georgia according to the latest rankings.
Ousmane Kromah Ousmane Kromah 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Lee County | 2025 State GA – RB – Lee County
Coming in at No. 5 in the 2025 Rankings is one of the top young backs not only in South Georgia, but in the country for the 2025 class. A big, powerful freshman who already stands at 5-foot-11 180-pounds, Kromah isn’t your average freshman back. The 2025 prospect is a tough back who runs like a deer. He’s built well, he’s strong, and he’s became one of the more productive backs across the state by the end of the season. He breaks tackles with ease already and has all the makings of a possible 5-star down the road. As a freshman, Kromah carried the ball 188 times for 1,709 yards and 20 TD’s. He also had a receiving TD and a return TD to bring the total to 22 TDs on the season. He played like an upperclassmen and will only get better as he gets older and continues to perfect his craft. He’s already a touchdown machine and is expected to have a monster career over the next three years.
Chance Arthur Chance Arthur 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Rome | 2025 State GA – Running Back
Another dynamic back in the 2025 class with size and game-changing ability, the Rome standout is now ranked as the No. 3 RB prospect and the No. 10 overall prospect in Georgia. Like Johnson and Kromah, Arthur is a strong, powerful runner 6-foot-0 205-pounds who more than held his won rushing the ball as a freshman last year. He didn’t light up the stat sheet, but he got better and better with each game and has a chance to take his game to the next level with the Rome Wolves as a sophomore. He moves well for his size, plays above his age, and can carry defenders for extra yards at the end of carriers. He’s a fluid runner and does a nice job of lowering his shoulders and finishing runs off strong. He also shows reliable hands out of the backfield, and could see more passes come his way this fall.
Jaiden Daniels Jaiden Daniels 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Commerce | 2025 State GA – Commerce
Ranked as the No. 4 RB prospect and the No. 30 prospect in Georgia for the 2025 class, Daniels was one of the most productive freshman backs in the state last season, rushing for 1,327 yards and 13 touchdowns last fall. He’s quick, agile, sees the field well, and has great instincts with the ball in his hands. He may not be the biggest back, but he’s a natural runner with burst. He runs with balance, he’s great in the open field, and he’s tougher than your average freshman. He eludes defenders with ease and shows quick feet when running the ball. He changes direction well, and has a true nose for the endzone. There’s a lot to like about his game, and he flashed D1 potential in his first season. He works hard, he’s determined to get better, and he’s on pace for an excellent career over the next few years. He’s one to keep a close eye on in the 2025 class.
