Nwaneri, a 6-foot-5, 240-250 pound defensive end, has blown up as a prospect as we expected following a sophomore season that saw him record 43 tackles, 11 hurries and five sacks as Lee’s Summit North went 11-2 and advanced to the Missouri Class 6 semifinals.
In a recent two-day stretch, May 12-13, Nwaneri received scholarship offers from USC, Georgia and Alabama. He’ll be up to two dozen offers before long and, eventually, will have offers from every major program in the country.
A few days later, Mozee, a 6-0, 175-pound wide receiver, received an offer from the University of Oklahoma.
It was probably only a matter of time before Mozee was offered by Oklahoma, but it was probably still a bit surprising to get the news on earlier this week. The top prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025 has plenty of connections to the Sooners.
Mozee’s father, Jamar, played running back in the early 2000s and was a member of OU’s last national championship team. One of the Sooners’ key assistant coaches back then was Brent Venables, who returned to Oklahoma as the head coach a few months ago.
The Sooners have also offered Mozee’s teammate, big-time 2023 offensive lineman Cayden Green Cayden Green 6'5" | 310 lbs | OL Lee's Summit North | 2023 State MO , and if they haven’t offered Nwaneri yet, they likely will soon.
Mozee was a starter on the Broncos’ star-studded Class 6 semifinalist squad last fall as a freshman. He racked up 25 catches for 398 yards and five touchdowns and also scored two rushing touchdowns.
LUTHERAN NORTH PROSPECTS GET OFFERS
Lutheran North has been one of the top small school programs in the state for a long time and the recent run of success under coaches Carl Reed and now Kyle Wagner looks like it will continue for the next few years.
Four Crusaders recently picked up offers, including the first offers for three of them.
In the 2023 class, wide receiver Eric Reedus Eric Reedus 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Lutheran North | 2023 State MO recently picked up offers from UConn and Eastern Kentucky — his first two offers — and defensive back Jonathan Van Hook Jonathan Van Hook 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Lutheran North | 2023 State MO received his first offer from Eastern Kentucky. Reedus caught six passes for 208 yards, averaging 34.7 yards per reception, and two touchdowns last fall. Van Hook had 11 tackles and one interception in two games, but scored two touchdowns — on an interception return and a kickoff return.
Defensive tackle Demetrius Jones Demetrius Jones 6'2" | 265 lbs | DL Lutheran North | 2024 State MO , one of the better prospects in Missouri in the Class of 2024, was recently offered by Colorado and Eastern Kentucky after previously picking up offers from Iowa State and Northern Iowa. Jones had a breakout season as a sophomore last fall when he racked up 69 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks.
One of the top prospects in Missouri in the Class of 2025, Karvon Jefferson Karvon Jefferson 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Lutheran North | 2025 State MO picked up his first offer from Eastern Kentucky. Jefferson projects as either a defensive back or running back at the next level but currently plays linebacker for North. He had 41 tackles and two sacks last fall.
LIBERTY SPEEDSTER ADDS OFFERS
Liberty’s Anthony Wenson Anthony Wenson 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Liberty | 2023 State MO , an explosive 2023 wide receiver and kick returner, picked up offers from Army and Air Force recently after previously being offered by Benedictine and MidAmerica Nazarene.
A 6-1, 185-pounder, Wenson earned all-state honors as a kick returner following his junior season. He showed off his speed this spring during track season when he recorded a 100-meter dash time of 10.88 seconds.
ROCKHURST STANDOUT RECEIVES FIRST OFFER
Rockhurst standout 2023 defensive prospect Conor Sexton Conor Sexton 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Rockhurst | 2023 State MO picked up his first offer from Northern Iowa on May 11.
A 6-3, 225-pounder, Sexton is an outside linebacker, defensive end and fullback. His junior season film shows a defensive player with good size and burst who can get into the backfield and chase down quarterbacks or running backs. He received an offer from Benedictine a few days before the offer from Northern Iowa.
