They have put in the blood, sweat, and tears necessary this offseason to put themselves in a position to make an impact on their squad and are ready to shake things up on the defensive side of the ball.
Jacobey Clay | 5’10 200 | 2024 | Wichita Falls
Jacobey has the ideal body type that you look for in a linebacker. When the hole opens up, you can see his patience kick in. Really good closing speed when chasing down a running back on the outside or a receiver when in coverage. Long wingspan that benefits him when making a tackle on a speedy back and recovering. After evaluating Jacobey, I anticipate him having a really good 2022 season.
Connor Johnsey | 5’11 205 | 2024 | Katy
Connor shows great sideline to sideline speed and provides great run support on the outside. Displays extremely good awareness and instincts when dropping back in coverage to disrupt the receiver on the short route. Makes great reads, shoots gaps quickly to stop the running back in the backfield. Connor also puts in time on Special Teams keeping kick returners at bay. Building off a stellar 2021 season, expect Connor to make a bigger impact in 2022.
Ali Vinson | 6’0 214 | 2025 | Allen
Ali plays very fast and physical, full of tenacity. He is built on a prototypical frame that allows him to get to the ball quickly. When a play begins you can see his awareness and IQ come alive by how well he reads which way the play is going. He is careful with his feet when taking the critical first step and keeps his center of balance low. Ali spends most of his time playing in the middle of the defense, can plug up the middle or provide run support on the outside. His work ethic makes it safe to say that Ali is ready to pour it on in 2022.
Markavious Justice | 6’1 216 | 2024 | W.T. White (Ft. Worth, TX)
Markavious is an exciting linebacker to watch. While playing an outside linebacker role, his instincts to shutdown a play coming out of the backfield are impressive. He displays a high level of athleticism by moving well in open space and shows great awareness. His 55 solo tackles last season, back that up. Markavious also stands out on Special Teams, he recorded a couple blocked field goals in key moments benefiting the team. The drive and determination he shows proves that he is ready to make a huge impact in 2022.
Dawson Bullard | 5’10 185 | 2023 | Midland Christian
Dawson has great speed, especially when coming off the edge to blow up a play in the backfield and getting to the quarterback. He is explosive and moves really well when in open space and covering in the flats. A highly physical linebacker with good awareness and a nose for the ball. A durable athlete who can be relied upon in key moments. He is another one that spends time on Special Teams and excels as a kick returner as well as apart of the hands team. With he and the Mustangs coming off an impressive run at a state title in 2021, expect Dawson to be a big component on defense in 2022.
