Continue ReadingThe Elite 11 tour made a stop in Las Vegas last weekend and some of the top quarterbacks in California were in attendance.
The finals will take place in the summer and 20 quarterbacks will be extended invitations. Entering the weekend, five quarterbacks were invited and four more (three from California) earned invitations after the weekend.
Jaden Rashada Jaden Rashada 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Pittsburg | 2023 State CA (Pittsburg) was named the Alpha Dog by 247Sports and earned an invitation to the finals. He was always considered an upside guy who didn’t really see significant playing time until last season. He has one of the better arms of his class and according to reports his footwork is great and he can make throws from difficult platforms. Rashada has 32 offers and has only taken one official visit (Ole Miss) and recently visited LSU. He told Greg Biggins of 247Sports that he plans on taking official visits to LSU, Oregon and Texas A&M who just offered him recently. He mentioned Miami as still being a contender and plans on narrowing his list to six in the next week or so before committing in the summer.
Through 2 groups, Jaden Rashada has been most consistent QB for me pic.twitter.com/HkEgv3CZA0

Malachi Nelson Malachi Nelson 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Los Alamitos | 2023 State CA (Los Alamitos) was a shoe-in to get an invite to the finals and obviously was extended the offer. He has one of the smoothest releases I have seen for a high school quarterback. Nelson’s accuracy is off the charts to all levels of the field and the ball comes out of his hands nicely. There’s a real case he is the top quarterback in the nation and could have been an Elite 11 finalist last season. Nelson is committed to USC.

Pierce Clarkson Pierce Clarkson 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA (St. John Bosco) shined at the event and was extended an invitation to the finals. I saw him throwing for Premium LA at a passing tournament in January and he stood out to me as the best quarterback at the event by far. He shines when throwing on the run or when the play breaks down. He puts great touch on the ball and consistently hits receivers in stride where nobody else can get the ball. Biggins said that he may have been the best quarterback at the event on out-of-pocket and off-platform throws. Clarkson is committed to Louisville and will be the lone starter at Bosco this season.

Eli Holstein Eli Holstein 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Zachary | 2023 State LA (Zachary, LA) was the best at the testing portion of the day. He set a SPARQ testing record for quarterbacks with an 133.56 Rating, highlighted by a 4.64-40, 4.19 shuttle, 38” VJ and 45’5” power ball throw. He’s a big guy at 6-foot-4 and over 220 pounds but is one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the class. Holstein was the only non California quarterback to be extended an invitation to the finals.

Aidan Chiles Aidan Chiles 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Downey | 2023 State CA (Downey) missed the end of last season due to injury but has reemerged as a top quarterback on the camp circuit lately. I first saw him at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament last summer after transferring from Los Alamitos and I was impressed by his length and leadership ability. He has a nice smooth and high release and throws a great deep ball. He can put zip on the intermediate throws and he makes the throws look easy.
David Rasor David Rasor 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Corona Del Mar | 2023 State CA (Corona del Mar) has been getting rave reviews from Orange County coaches since his sophomore year. Back then, he beat out four other potential starting quarterbacks including multiple who transferred in to win the job. His delivery is smooth and he always makes good decisions with the ball. He is ranked as the No. 24 quarterback in the class on Prep Redzone but I would have him in the top 20 easily.
Thanks to a couple folks who captured the throw by David Rasor and “The Catch III” by Cooper Hoch to send the Sea Kings onto the Quarterfinals this coming Friday vs Orange Lu at

Luke Duncan Luke Duncan 6'6" | 195 lbs | QB Miramonte | 2023 State CA (Miramonte) is a big guy at 6-foot-6 and around 185 pounds. Penn and UNLV have offered him in April and he’s been getting a lot of buzz on the 7-on-7 circuit this offseason. He has a big arm and throws very well from the pocket.
Javance Tupouata-Johnson Javance Tupouata-Johnson 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Chaminade | 2023 State CA (Notre Dame) has a ton of upside and shined at moments of the event according to Biggins. “Although he could have been more steady throughout, particularly with his footwork, Tuputoa-Johnson still showed the flashes that has made him one of the intriguing prospects out West,” Biggins said. When you watch his film, a lot of his best throws are off-platform rolling to his right. He holds the ball down near his stomach which adds a little time to his release but he has the arm talent college coaches love. He recently visited San Diego State and Washington State. I personally think BYU is the favorite to land him.
