The 2021 season did not turn out the way they hoped, but brighter days are certainly ahead for the War Eagles of Conroe Oak Ridge. Led by an Elite 11 senior quarterback, two big-name 6’4″ defensive ends, and a good mix of underrated talent at other positions, this team has a very good chance at making a playoff run this season.
The first player on this list, however, is an unsung defensive tackle who should work his way onto your recruiting board this season.
DT Jacob Harris – 6’0″ 250 — @Jacob_Harris00 / Class of ’23
’Stout’ is the word that comes to mind when watching Harris’s tape. Very stout at the point of attack. Lines up at nose tackle a lot for the War Eagles, and shows great ability to defeat centers and guards one-on-one. Additionally, he uses brute strength to win when he’s double-teamed, and is consistently able to put pressure on the quarterback. Harris may be small in stature, but he makes up for it by playing with a lot of heart and just plain ol’ blue collar grit. A no-brainer offer for a small college program who wants a difference-maker along the D Line in 2023.

WR Ja Harrison – 6’0″ 180 — @Jaquale8 / Class of ’23
Junior Stats: 39 receptions, 682 yards, 7 touchdowns
Harrison is a shifty receiver who is at his best when in one-on-one matchups. Gets clean releases and is able to use his speed to burn cornerbacks on vertical routes. He makes guys miss in the open field, and uses impressive body control to win matchups when he’s going up to make contested catches in traffic.
Receiving some recruiting attention, but has no offers currently.

QB Steve Smedley – 6’2″ 190 — @SteveSmedley3 / Class of ’23
Junior Stats: 1,410 yards and 12 touchdowns; 65% completion
An Elite 11 invitee, Smedley throws a very nice deep ball and puts some heat on his throws over the middle. He throws receivers open when he needs to, and threads the needle quite well over the middle. One thing I really like about him is that he doesn’t force anything downfield when it isn’t there. Stays patient and goes through his progression until he finds the open guy. When things break down, is athletic enough to escape the pocket and pick up first downs with his legs.

DE Favour Awodoyin – 6’4″ 215 — @Favour_Awodoyin / Class of ’24
Awodoyin is a long, lean defensive end who has a high ceiling. He shows nice ability in one-on-one matchups with offensive tackles, and as far as his pass rush is concerned, he will certainly get more active with his hands over the remaining two years of his high school career. Is absolutely going to be a Division 1 player.
Favour Awodoyin Sophomore Season – Hudl
DE Joseph Jonah-Ajonye – 6’4″ 235 — @JosephAjonye / Class of ’24
Jonah-Ajonye is a man amongst boys in Class 6A. Impressive initial punch, good hand placement, and nice explosion – to go along with freakish athleticism – make this soon-to-be junior defensive end one of the most exciting players to watch in the Lone Star State.
