There were five quarterbacks on hand for the 2024 class and we had a chance to see each one up close. Here are a few of our observations:
Riley Staton Riley Staton 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Gaffney | 2024 State SC | Gray Collegiate
Staton has a smooth release on his throws and he keeps his eyes downfield on the target. He has solid footwork to where he can fire the ball. He had an impressive escape where he spun to avoid the defender and make the throw.
Terrence Smith | South Aiken (pictured above)
While Smith may only be 5’10, don’t let that fool you. He blew us away during the 40-yard dash running a 4.46. In the individual drills, he put the ball up and chucked it deep. He also keeps his eyes downfield.
McKenzie Atterberry | Blackville-Hilda
Atterberry displayed good footwork and his hips were centered in order to make an accurate throw. He can flick it to his receivers with the way the ball comes out of his hand.
Malik Shippy | Johnsonville
Shippy stands at 6’1 and close to 168 pounds and he looked fluid going through the individual drills. We noticed how smooth his drop backs were and how he was able to step into his throws with his footwork.
Taiden Mines Taiden Mines 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Lexington | 2024 State SC | Lexington
Mines checked in at 5’10 and close to 180 pounds and he was impressive in the 40-yard dash showing off impressive acceleration that enabled him to finish the run. In the individual period, he had a smooth release, especially when throwing the ball to his left.
