The Big North has been northern Michigan’s primer league for quite some time. With a few losses to the league, it’s truly a new era for the Big North. In this article, I’ll be going over the biggest mismatch for every Big North team!
Gaylord - [player_tooltip player_id="249498" first="Brady" last="Pretzlaff"] - ATH
A bruiser already with a Central Michigan offer, [player_tooltip player_id="249498" first="Brady" last="Pretzlaff"] is the best player in the Big North, hands down. It’s not debatable, Pretzlaff is a nightmare for opposing teams, and I’d be shaking in my cleats if I had to face him. His instincts at linebacker are impressive, his pursuit is phenomenal, and the hits.... my god, this kid can HIT.
Petoskey - [player_tooltip player_id="249497" first="CJ" last="Hibbler"] - WR
Hibbler has outstanding potential and he’s been working all offseason to prove himself. He’s a prototypical slot receiver at 5’8" and 155lbs, and I expect a great season from him. Hibbler has a great 11.42 100M dash, and he’s as twitchy as they come. As long as he’s utilized well, Hibbler will be able to make a lot happen. He’ll change the game in the Big North!
Alpena - [player_tooltip player_id="249503" first="Jake" last="Zann"] - QB
I’ve very thoroughly discussed Zann, so I’ll keep this simple. He was a good QB last season, indeed way above average for a Northern Michigan QB. There are a few aspects of his game that he had to clean up, and as long as he’s improved, he’ll be the best QB in the Big North. The thing that makes him a mismatch is the potential dominance against these Big North secondaries.
Cadillac - Jay Gulish - DE/WR
This is more of an upside pick. A lighter defensive end for Cadillac, Jay Gulish has flashed great technique. My hope and expectation are that Gulish has put on significant muscle in the weight room to be able to dominate in more aspects. Cadillac already has many great pieces, and if Gulish reaches his potential, this team will benefit greatly.
