So good that they’ve already proven to be lock-down, game-changing type players. Here’s a look at the four rising sophomores who did so much to distinguish themselves as ninth-graders that their upside couldn’t be ignored.
Armoni Weaver Armoni Weaver 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , Byrnes: Weaver has transferred over from Dorman, where he was one of the leaders for a very good Cavaliers defense despite his young age. Weaver had three tackles for loss, three interceptions, a pass break-up, and 125 return yards, including a pick-six against eventual state champion Gaffney. He’s got great anticipation, great adjustment skills when the ball’s in the air, and the fearlessness to commit to his on-field decisions that every cornerback needs. When Weaver thinks he sees a weakness, he’s going to exploit it.
Christian Henderson Christian Henderson 5'8" | 160 lbs | DB Greenville | 2025 State SC , Greenville: Henderson is another transfer, heading to Greenville from Southside Christian, where he was a key player on a defense that led the Sabres to a state title and allowed five points per game. He contributed four interceptions, five pass break-ups, and 32 tackles in his freshman year. Henderson is a cover guy with track-star speed who also sticks his head in and plays well in run support.
Malik Mozone Malik Mozone 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Aiken | 2025 State SC , Silver Bluff: You want a versatile dude? Just a pure football player? Check out Mozone. The Bulldogs’ standout is fast enough to play defensive back (where we’ve ranked him) for the Bulldogs, physical enough to step in and play LB, and rugged enough to contribute at RB. He’s good at all of it, with plenty of talent and a TON of intangibles.
Zeke Marshall Zeke Marshall 6'3" | 175 lbs | DB Westside | 2025 State SC , Westside: Curry has a ton of length at DB for the Rams, standing 6-3. He’s a standout for Westside on the basketball court as well, and showcases that athleticism on the field. He’s solid in coverage, takes good angles to plays, and is more than willing to fill a gap and cut down RBs with a physical game that showcases his talent.
