This group is experienced and played a lot of football as sophomores. Their roles should expand even more this season.
Andre McFadden-Pressley Andre McFadden-Pressley 6'0" | 305 lbs | DL Lake City | 2024 State SC , Lake City (No. 49 overall)
A lot of guys in the trenches have been solid on the wrestling mat and the 6’2”, 280-pound Pressley-McFadden is no different. He won the Class AAA individual state championship at 285 this past winter and a lot of that technique transfers over to playing defensive tackle.
James Brockington James Brockington 6'3" | 295 lbs | DL Kingstree | 2024 State SC , Kingstree (No. 46 overall)
Brockington comes in as the biggest defensive lineman on the list and his strength and power is what makes him special. The challenge over the next two years is to keep him around the 300-pound range so he can be more productive in both the run and pass defense.
Grayson White Grayson White 6'0" | 240 lbs | QB Camden | 2024 State SC , Camden (No. 32 overall)
White is the wildcard here. There is not much film of him on the defensive front. Because of injuries last year, he played quarterback and helped take the Bulldogs to the state championship game. He is athletic at 6’1”, 250-pounds and should move back to a stacked defensive line for Camden this season.
Ben Britton Ben Britton 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Oceanside Collegiate | 2024 State SC , Oceanside Collegiate (No. 25 overall)
Britton is difficult to block at the point of attack. He sheds blocks well and that allows him to make plays in the backfield. He is athletic as well on a 6’3”, 240-pound frame, having played basketball for Oceanside. His upside is extremely high and could be one to watch moving up the rankings in the future.
Chris Dixon Chris Dixon 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL South Pointe | 2024 State SC , South Pointe (No. 21 overall)
The Stallions won a state title in class 4A last season and the play of Dixon up front was crucial. Dixon stepped right in and was a big part of the defensive success for South Pointe. He is 6’2”, 260 pounds and could play at a little higher weight. Time in the weight room will help him over the next two years.
Chantwan Harkless Chantwan Harkless 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL South Florence | 2024 State SC , South Florence (No. 18 overall)
Quickness is the name of the game for the 6’3”. 220-pounder. He can use a variety of moves to get away from bigger offensive linemen. He is also able to run down the ball carrier in several diverse ways. He could add weight to his frame and still be effective as a defensive stopper on the front line.
Jayden Wilson-Abrams Jayden Wilson-Abrams 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL Greenville | 2024 State SC , Greenville (No. 13 overall)
Wilson-Abrams was first-team all-region last year after totaling 29 solo tackles and 30 assists last year. He also recorded 3.5 sacks and 10 hurries in just seven games. Another year in the weight room should have Wilson-Abrams playing bigger than the 6’3”, 250 pounds he currently weighs. Upside is high. [EDITOR’S NOTE: After initial publication of this story, we were informed that Wilson-Abrams is transferring to nearby Greenville.]
