Not only do they play a very pressured position, but they are expected to perform in an automatic fashion. Being a solid kicker takes God given talent, and the ability to focus, and hone your craft. Below, we have made note of a few younger kickers who have already worked on their craft, and have seen success from doing so. These young, 2024 kickers in the state of Georgia deserve more credit, and will likely receive it in the coming years as they see more playing time.
Nathan Chapman- Fellowship Christian
Not only is Chapman one of the more fun young kickers to track in the state of Georgia, but it is easy to see that he has plenty of potential, especially when given the chance to perform in pressured situations. Last year, Chapman managed to be Mr. Consistent, as he hit 9 field goals for his team, while also crushing 52 PAT’s after his offense’s high production. Chapman has great leg strength, a decent follow through, solid arc on his kicks, and great timing when kicking the ball. Next season, we want to see him take that next step in his overall leg strength, and consistency on deep kicks. If he can continue to do so, he can take his game, and attention with prospective coaches to the next level.
Michael Arbour- Cherokee Bluff
In an 11 game span, Arbour continued to step up for his team time after time, especially after they scored TD’s on a regular basis. Because of his team’s offensive production, he saw the field a great bit, which resulted in 60 total PAT’s made. These 60 points are very impressive for a sophomore, and they are very important for a team’s success each game, especially in close competition. Arbour’s consistency can also be seen in the fact that he already made 4 field goals as a sophomore, proving that he has the leg talent to be able to step up in clutch, and pressured situations for his team. Our hope is that he can continue to develop his raw talent, and to provide this same ability for his team next season.
Cooper Evans- Clarke Central
In addition to the kickers above, Evans also had a great amount of success as a sophomore for his team. By the end of the season, Evans managed to hit 6 field goals for his team, and also accounted for 48 PAT’S for his offense. Not only is this a high volume of PAT’s, but it also proves that he can kick very consistently, and get an arc on the football. Evans also showed that he has a decent follow through on his kicks, and that intermediate kicks are something he can achieve more regularly with practice. Because of this, we expect him to take a leap in progression next season, and to be one of the better kickers in the state within his class.
Mcclain Fineran- Brunswick
Even though Fineran is a young player, he has already displayed plenty of upside as a kicker for Brunswick’s program. Last season, he already saw some time on the field, and it even resulted in 3 field goals, for a total of 9 points. In addition to this, he was also very formidable for his team, as he managed to score 55 PAT’S, proving that he is accurate, and can get the arc on the ball that is needed, especially in short range. Moving into next season, we think that he will get more looks, and being able to work on his overall leg strength, and consistency with deeper kicks will certainly help.
