Over 100 participants were on hand for the combine and individual skill competition. We will look at the top wide receivers we saw that day and what have they improved on since we saw them last season.
Nate Branch Nate Branch 5'10" | 180 lbs | WR Lower Richland | 2023 State SC , Lower Richland
Branch has seen his recruiting heat up since the end of last season. He’s gotten several Power 5 offers now and hopes to springboard that into more offers with a strong summer. He got things started quickly by posting the best 40 time, a 4.48 laser timed speed. His other measurables were impressive as well. He also had the fastest L Cone of the day with a 6.75. Branch has a good twitch that helps in the return game as well. He excelled in the skills part of the combine as well.
Chance Jennings Chance Jennings 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Gilbert | 2023 State SC , Gilbert
The fact that Jennings reached over 23 MPH on the Catapult system shows his speed is elite. He is one of the few in the country to reach that mark this year. He has 9” hands and recorded a broad jump of 9’3”. Jennings can be used a variety of ways and had a good showing in individual competition against a strong defensive backfield.
Adonis McDaniel Adonis McDaniel 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Ridge View | 2023 State SC , A.C. Flora
The Falcons two-way player was his best in the one-on-one portion of the combine. He rotated in quickly and wanted to be challenged by the best defensive backs in attendance. He won most of his battles, including securing a long, over-the-shoulder catch on a TD pass from 40 yards. McDaniel’s route-running has improved, and he caught everything that was within reach.
Braylen Bowers South Aiken
Bowers played in a predominately run-oriented offense at South Aiken, but he showed off good ball skills in the one-on-one competition against the defensive backs. Bowers was physical at the line of scrimmage and was able to get off the press coverage quickly. He recorded a 4.36 Pro shuttle time.
Elijah Chalmers, Marlboro County
Chalmers was one of the taller wide receivers at 6’2 but he ran a 4.58 which was one of the fastest times among the wide receivers. His broad jump of 9’6” was the best among wide receivers. Chalmers did well in the skills portion of the effort, using his speed and length to create separation from defenders.
