These young men are under the radar players who have made big plays for the team, shown the skill set to compete with the best of them, and have put their best efforts on the gridiron! They have the speed, size, and strength to go along with it. Let’s take a look at some underrated players in Austin, TX that have the potential to turn into super stars!
Hunter Luke- 5’10 170Ibs/WR, Slot/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Hunter Luke is a slot wide receiver that transferred from Cedar Park High School to Austin Westlake High School that has some decent measurements to consider. He clocked a 4.6 40 yard dash, 4.2 shuttle, a 10.7 hundred meter dash time, and has a 30 inch vertical. He is only a sophomore! Even though he is only 170 pounds, Hunter Luke plays with physicality, and you can use him as a huge slot weapon sending him on reverses and screens. He possesses very soft hands, and has the speed to break away form any one on the field. He can also be utilized on special teams which allows him to become a threat in the third phase of the game as well. Finally, Luke is a tremendous blocker and does his best to create lanes for his team! Look out for him this upcoming season as he continues to develop!
Jack Kayser- 5’7 150Ibs/RB/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Jack Kayser is another underrated player in the Austin area that deserves huge recognition for his playmaking abilities. This young man is short, but plays with such skill and should not be overlooked because of his size! He is extremely elusive, has good hands, and breaks tackles like none other in the game! Kayser has also become a weapon on special teams with his speed. He was a sophomore All- American and District 26-6A Newcomer of The Year and is a state champ to top it off! Look out for him in the next two years to become a premier back, not only in Austin, but in the state of Texas as well!
Jacob Henry- 6’1 275Ibs/DT, NG/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Jacob Henry is a beast on the field! Just a sophomore, he has already shown that he has the potential to be a great defensive lineman. Henry has phenomenal technique in the trenches keeping his pad level low, knees driving, and using his strength to bully offensive linemen. This young prospect is very good at getting to the quarterback and stopping the run. He does a very good job at fighting through double teams! Henry posted some impressive weight room numbers as well benching 275 pounds, and squatting 550 pounds. Henry also plays nasty and dirty on the defensive line which is vital in the trenches! Jacob Henry has an extremely bright future if he continues to play the way he is playing!
Mason Cochran Mason Cochran 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Round Rock | 2024 State TX – 6’2 200Ibs/QB/ Round Rock High School
Analysis: Hayden Hnath is an upcoming young sophomore quarterback our of Round Rock High School. Last season, he racked up 124 carries for 958 rushing yards with 7.7 yards per carry and 13 touchdowns. He had a 56% completion percentage, and was only 46/82 passing for 776 yards last year. Cochran had a QBR of 125.8 with 8 touchdowns and 1 interception. He is very good rushing quarterback that will only getting better, including his development in the passing game! Also, he can develop into one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the country with more playing time and development. Again he is just a sophomore. Look for him to start the next two years on varsity and become a superstar at Round Rock High School!
Miles Coleman 5’5 140Ibs /WR/ Vandegrift High School
Analysis: Miles Coleman is another young prospect to look for in the upcoming years of his career. Even though he is undersized, he is not a player to be overlooked! Clocking a 4.6 40 yard dash, Coleman has good enough speed in the open field. Also, he is an elusive player juking out defenders and leaving them in the dust when given the chance. He has good hands, and has superb route running skills! This young man has the potential to be a highly ranked recruit as well in the near future with more development and film. Miles Coleman is also a wide receiver that can be difficult to bring down in the open field if you do not wrap up properly, because at any moment he can make you pay! Look for him to have an outstanding junior year!
