Their are some great names that have made it to the NFL such as, Earl Campbell, Nick Foles, Justin Tucker, Night Train Lee, and Drew Brees, just to name a few. These young men on the list have been under the radar for some time now, but they have shown their superb skill level from their play on the football field. Some are undersized, but do not let that fool you, they play with the heart, speed, power, and explosiveness just as much as the top prospects do! Let’s take a look at some more underrated players on the rise in Austin, and why they deserve to be recognized as such!
Conner Hees- 5’10 160Ibs/SS/ Bowie High School
Analysis: Connor Hees is an under the radar safety that can compete at a high level. He is a physical hard hitting safety and does an excellent job at making tackles. Hees does a good job at staying on top of receivers. He can play great man and zone coverage, and possesses good jump ball skills, catching the ball at its highest point. Even though he isn’t the fastest, with a little more development, he can turn into something special. Hees can also fight off blocks very well. Look for him to have a great junior year this upcoming season!
Connor Kenyon Connor Kenyon 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Bowie | 2023 State TX – 6’3 195Ibs/QB/ Bowie High School
Analysis: Conner Kenyon had a very good year last year! He was 2nd Team All-District in district 26-6A and led his team to become area champions with a school record of 10-3.Kenyon posted some impressive combine numbers with a 4.7 40 yard dash, 265Ibs bench press, 405Ibs squat, and a 4.4 shuttle time! This young man has a very powerful arm. He reads through his progression well and delivers tight accurate throws to make key plays. Next, his dep balls are accurate and he has very good footwork in the pocket which allows him to buy time. Kenyon stands in the pocket and does not panic when the pocket gets smaller. Look for him to have an outstanding senior year!
Jack Strzinek- 6’4 245Ibs/RT/ Round Rock High School
Analysis: Jack Strzinek is a mac truck on the offensive line! He plays dirty and nasty in the trenches. This young man does not get the props he deserves being a tremendous run and pass blocker, has very good speed for his size, and has really good strength to block the biggest of opponents. Strzinek does a superb job at staying low while blocking which allows him to get so many pancakes. Even though he is not the biggest in weight , he blocks and plays like he is 290 plus pounds! Keep in mind he was only a sophomore! This young athlete has the potential to become great and potentially play at the next level!
Jett Jones- 6’1 300Ibs/DT/Round Rock High School
Analysis: Jett Jones is a phenomenal underrated sleeper player as well that is good enough to play with the best of them! Jones racked up 56 tackles, 32 solo tackles, and 15 tackles for loss last season. He also had 3 sacks, 12 quarterback rushes, and 1 blocked field goal! This young man is not the tallest, but has a solid build. He does a great job at breaking through blocks by using his hands and strength. He is a hard hitting defensive lineman as well, and makes plays in the backfield when needed. Offensive linemen have difficulty double teaming him because of his strength as well! He is gap disciplined and is a good tackler as well! For the upcoming 2022 football season, look out for him to have a phenomenal year and potentially rack up some offers from universities!
Markus Boswell Markus Boswell 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Lake Travis | 2024 State TX – 6’0 170Ibs/LB/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Only a sophomore last year, Boswell showed what it takes to play with the big boys. He plays with a high motor and is a very good tackler. He plays physical, and can also run down ball carriers. Markus Boswell Markus Boswell 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Lake Travis | 2024 State TX can also make plays on special teams too! In the box, he can shed blocks, and is a linebacker that is difficult to run on. With some more training, he can become someone special or even a top prospect for that matter. Watch out for him the next two years!
