They have shown that they have the speed, skill, and talent necessary to compete with the cream of the crop, and make a name for themselves. Without further due, let’s analyze some of the best underrated running backs in the city of Austin, who are looking to have a great 2022 football season.
Aiden Albright- 5’10 170Ibs/RB/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Aiden Albright is a player that can make some noise next year if he gets enough reps and training. In the game, Albright has shown that he has very good ball carry vision in between the gaps. He does an excellent job at running upright and leaning forward when he runs the ball. Next, Albright has shown keen footwork and ability to stop on the dime and change direction. He is a good downhill runner and can get you the tough yards if needed. Do not sleep on him for the upcoming 2022 football season.
Jack Kayser- 5’7 150Ibs/RB/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Jack Kayser is another underrated running back that has the skill set to make a difference for his team. This young man should not be overlooked because of his size either! He is very elusive, possesses soft hands, and breaks tackles like none other in the game! Kayser is also a threat on special teams with his speed. He was a sophomore All- American and the District 26-6A Newcomer of The Year. Kayser is also a state champion. Look out for him at the running back position in the city of Austin for Austin Westlake High School.
Tyree Nicholson- 5’11 190Ibs/RB/ Cedar Park High School
Analysis: Tyree Nicholson is a very good back that has not been given the recognition he deserves. He was named to 2nd Team All-District last year. He is a balanced back with a decent amount of speed and a good level of power when running the ball. Nicholson has shown that he has good enough vision to find the open holes when needed, and he also runs with authority to help his team get the extra yards. Also, he is a really good blocker and will lay the wood on any opponent coming his way, which will be a vital skill to have when protecting the quarterback in pass protection as well! Look for him to have a great season in the fall!
Luke Walker- 5’9 160Ibs/RB/ Regents School of Austin High School
Analysis: Luke Walker is a player that can only improve moving forward. With more development, training, and improvement of mechanics, this young athlete can turn into a pretty good back. He is not afraid to run in between the tackles as well and runs upright and forward. Walker also plays the linebacker position, and does a tremendous job at shedding blocks and making tackles. Just a sophomore, he has not reached his full potential! He also has the ability to truck defenders in his way. Look for him to only improve and become a better running back in the near future!
Jalon JJ Banks- 5’10 165Ibs/RB/ Hutto High School
Analysis: Jalon Banks is a really good back with plenty of potential. Banks has good explosion out of the backfield and runs in between the tackles full speed with no hesitation! He is very elusive and quick as well. Jalon Banks has some of the best pair of hands for a running back I have seen so far. With great jump ball skills, Banks can go up and grab just about any ball thrown his way! He also has decent speed clocking a 4.6 40 yard dash time as well. Out of all of the running backs I have scouted, Banks is an extremely good pass blocker, cleaning up linebackers left and right for his quarterback! Please keep your eye on him in the future!
