Today we will take a look at five more and explain why they are some of the best safeties in San Antonio. They have shown excellent ball skills, tackling, forcing fumbles, and breaking up passes which are all key attributes at the safety position. These young men may have an opportunity to play at the next level and accel! This is why they are considered some of the best in the city. Let’s waste no more time, and let’s take a look at some more top safeties in the city of San Antonio.
Houston Hendrix- 6’3 185Ibs/SS/ Boerne High School
Analysis: Houston Hendrix is another top sleeper player that can go far in his career. He was the District 14-4A Utility Player of the Year! At the safety position, he plays a physical game every play. He possesses good field discipline and sticks to his fundamentals. Hendrix has a solid build as well. Then, this young athlete has decent speed which allows him to cover passes well, break up passes with his hands, and lay the wood on running backs or ball carriers. After that, Hendrix is a prospect to look out for in the future and will only improve at the rate he is going.
Jacob Redding- 6’0 170Ibs/FS/ New Braunfels High School
Analysis: Jacob Redding is an under the radar player that has shown he has the skill set to be considered one of the best. Redding plays both sides of the ball at the wide receiver position and has shown he has good hands. Also, he does a great job breaking up passes and making tackles in zone coverage. When he is on offense, he has also shown that he possesses good stalk blocking skills as well. He can come up and make superb tackles in the open field and has good enough speed to run down ball carriers or run away from defenders. Look for Jacob Redding to have a great senior season!
Troy Tomaselli- 6’1 175Ibs/SS/ Cornerstone Christian High School
Analysis: Troy Tomaselli is another safety that has proven that he deserves to be on this list. His back peddle and hip flexibility is one of the best I have seen. He can adjust to just about any ball thrown his way. Also, he does a good job getting off of blocks and throwing defenders off of him. He is a physical tackler as well, and puts himself in position to make plays and knock down passes consistently. Then he has decent speed clocking a 4.6 40 yard dash. Tomaselli can also make plays and make good tackles on special teams. He can even block very well! Troy Tomaselli has the tools to have a better senior season , and hopefully acquire some scholarships.
Chris Bryson- 6’2 186Ibs/SS/ Brandeis High School
Analysis: Chris Bryson is an under the radar defensive player. With his build, he has the make up of a typical safety at forcing he collegiate level. On defense, he does a really good job at forcing turnovers by using his soft hands and forcing interceptions. Bryson has good discipline and makes sure he closes the gaps quickly on ball carriers. He can also play the outside linebacker position and take down backs! When he is close to the line, he sets the edge well too! This is why he is considered one of the best safeties in the city!
Javon Bejarano- 5’10 178Ibs/SS/ Cibolo Steele
Analysis: Javon Bejarano is surprise on this list, but due to his level of play, he has earned the right to be considered a top safety in the city. He racked up a total of 72 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 7 pass break ups, and 1 fumble recovery! On the gridiron, he plays very physical. When he meets wide receivers who try to stalk block him, he takes them head on and gets off of them quickly. He has very good strength for a safety and has decent technique in zone or man coverage. Bejarano also has good jump ball skills which will help him in the passing game going against taller receivers. Look out for Javon Bejarano to have a huge season his senior year!
