Contreras is a running team but Joyce was very efficient when given the chance to pass the ball. He completed 54 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions. Contreras is losing both its top rushers from last season so it’s possible that Joyce will get more chances to showcases his passing during his senior year.
3. Tyler Rosales, Lincoln
Rosales is one of those rare quarterback and outside linebacker hybrids. He is a smaller lefty who throws well on the run. He does a good job keeping his eyes down the field even when under pressure and has a decent arm. He wasn’t the primary quarterback last season but he was solid when he got his chances, completing 75 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and only one interception. Rosales is a good athlete that Lincoln can do a lot of things with on both sides of the ball.

2. Emiliano Lopez, Cleveland
Lopez is a really good athlete who is also a star on the baseball team at Cleveland. As a quarterback, he runs pretty well, is fairly accurate to the far side of the field. He throws a good deep ball but sometimes he goes for the risky home run ball when a double is wide open underneath. He was second in the City Section for his class in passing yards and had 14 touchdowns with eight interceptions.

1. Paul Kessler Paul Kessler 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Venice | 2023 State CA , Venice
Venice has a chance to be a top team in the City Section next year and Kessler is a reason why. He is 6-foot-5 with a slower, but high release and throws a really good intermediate ball. The ball comes nicely out of his hands and while he is not fast, he is athletic enough to extend plays with his legs. He transferred to Venice from Alemany and played the beginning of his career at Oaks Christian. He threw for over 1500 yards last season with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has four Division 1 offers, all of which he got in 2020 when he was at Oaks Christian. He has been getting some Ivy League love lately and recently went on a visit to Dartmouth.
