This time of the year provides an opportunity for college coaches to dig deep into recruiting and identify who the next wave of talent individuals are. Here is a look at the top returning sack leaders in the state of Virginia.
Clayton Dobler | 6’4” 215 lbs | James River High School | Class of 2023
Dobler is an all around athlete who has a knack for getting to the ball. The James River junior Linebacker ran a 4.6 in the 40 this month, which was one of the fastest among his team. James River HS had a strong season finishing with a 9-3 record before losing to Oscar Smith in the 2nd round of the State Playoffs. Dobler contributed this season with 8 sacks, 46 tackles, and 14 tackles for a loss. He also holds a 4.5 GPA and was named All 6A Region Honorable Mention. Dobler has an offer from Davidson, and is currently receiving interest from James Madison, Presbyterian, Elon, Harvard, VMI, William and Mary, Valpo, and Idaho.
Brandan Cammarasana | 6’2” 210 lbs | Thomas Dale High School | Class of 2023
Cammarasana earned All Metro Honorable Mention and 6A 2nd Team All Region honors this past season. He finished the season with 6 sacks, 17 hurries, 66 tackles, and 15 tackles for a loss. The junior linebacker led Thomas Dale HS to a 6-3 season and a 1st round State Playoff appearance, where they were eliminated by Clayton Dobler and James River HS.
Langston White | 6’2” 200 lbs | Brentsville District | Class of 2024
White was a defensive force for Brentsville District as a sophomore this past year, and spearheaded a phenomenal season where they finished 11-3 before losing in the State Semi- Final to the eventual champion, Phoebus HS. White, who won 2nd Team All District and 2nd Team All Region honors, finished with 6 sacks, 61 tackles, and 15 tackles for a loss. The Brentsville Linebacker is currently receiving interest from Duke, Virginia Tech, James Madison, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State.
Jakari Thomas | 6′ 200 lbs | Dan River High School | Class of 2023
Dan River HS had a rough football season last year, but winning the 3 out of their last 4 games and Thomas’ performance last fall provides plenty of inspiration for the upcoming season. He was responsible for 6 of the team’s sacks, 3 hurries, 55 tackles, and 12 tackles for a loss.
Chase Sisco | 6’3” 215 lbs | Norfolk Christian | Class of 2023
Sisco tallied a total of 6 sacks, 34 tackles, and 5.5 tackles for a loss last season. He has the prototypical size (6’3” 215 lbs) and speed (4.7 in the 40 yard dash) for the next level. Norfolk Christian’s football team struggled last season, and they aren’t far from turning it around, being that 4 out of there last 5 losses were by less than 14 points. Sisco’s play on the field will play a key role in the team’s future success.
