All these prospects I got to work with closely. Every single one of these young men not only has talent, but is coachable, eager to learn, implement instruction, and has a great attitude.
Duaine Harris Jr. | 5’11″ 185lbs | 2023 | C.E King
The Most Outstanding Receiver award went to C.E King WR, Duaine Harris Jr. His route running was top tier at the event and couldn’t be checked by anybody. His releases are very impressive as he moves laterally to get the DB to open their hips. On one rep in the 1 on 1’s, he was able to turn and drop a defender and was wide open for 6. Harris has solid hands, great feet, and an ultra-competitive attitude.

DeBraun Hampton DeBraun Hampton 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Willis | 2024 State TX | 5’9″ 150lbs | 2024 | Willis
Willis High School transfer, DeBraun Hampton DeBraun Hampton 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Willis | 2024 State TX is continuing to have himself an impressive offseason. Hampton is a phenomenal route runner. He works the stem of his route as well as the best of them. The way Hampton uses his leverage and leans in the DB and gives head fakes generates a lot of separation. With some crafty footwork and length arms (6’1.5″ wingspan) Hampton can haul in any pass. Hampton was always ready to line up, regardless of who was in front of him.

Zechariah Sample | 5’10″ 155lbs | 2024 | Katy Jordan
Zechariah Sample was truly on a tear at the SW Regional Showcase. Sample is extremely quick and has twitchy movement skills that were difficult for DBs to keep up with. He showed a lot working from the slot and outside. Sample was hauling in jump balls, ankle level passes, and really displayed his catch radius (6’1″ wingspan). Zechariah Sample has special athletic tools and uses them in his routes and flat-out wins. He was not only one of the best players but one of the most competitive guys at the showcase.
Great rep here between Katy Jordan transfer WR Zech Sample (@SampleZechariah) and Hightower DB Ephraim Dotson (@DotsonEphraim). Ball from Katy Jordan QB Deuce Barrington (@DeuceBarrington). Dotson was in position but a great ball from Barrington and catch by Sample. pic.twitter.com/PNxXSmtcZR

Bryce Thomas | 5’7″ 145lbs | Shadow Creek
Bryce Thomas was one of the quickest competitors in attendance. He wasn’t afraid to get physical with CBs who were playing hard press, and he was successful at swiping their hands away. Thomas had a rep where he got physical with the corner and pushed his shoulders at the line then stacked him and hauled in the pass to win the rep. He showed off some good ball tracking and had the soft hands to bring in difficult passes. People may look at Thomas as undersized, but it doesn’t affect his play by any means.
Elias Dejaun | 6’1″ 180lbs | 2023 | C.E King
Elias Dejaun came ready and had a lot of energy on Sunday’s showcase. At the line, he has his hands up ready to combat the DB but also has the sweet feet to open up the corner’s hips to instantly win the route. His routes were stellar and he uses speed and sticks DBs to get open. Dejaun has great hands and even with a defender on his hip, he went up and hauled it in. Dejaun has great movement skills and in his route, he deploys some crafty movement. With his top-notch speed, technical prowess, and high energy Elias Dejaun had himself a standout performance.
Ivan Salazar | 5’10” 170lbs | 2024 | Brenham
Brenham’s Ivan Salazar had some of the best hands over the weekend. Whether it was in 1 on 1’s, 7v7, or 11 on 11, he was reeling them in. Salazar is an outside wideout that works well on the stem of his routes. He played fast, got out his breaks, stacked corners, and made plays against the best of them. Salazar is technical in every aspect of his game and will continue to develop into an outstanding wide receiver.
Marlon Simon | 6’1″ 165lbs | 2024 | Spring
Marlon Simon has a versatile skill set and put it on full display. The first thing I noticed was his quick feet. During the individual drills, Simon was moving fast and had good hip movement. His releases were very impressive as he used a variety of releases in competition. He generated a lot of separation at the line with his feet and often immediately won the rep within the first 5 yards of his route. Simon fits the “X” WR mold with his reliable hands, ability to get off the line, and a good frame.
