Their are tons of talented wide receivers in the state of Texas that have the potential to become superstars, but the sleeper players on this list can do or achieve the exact same thing! They have shown the footwork, stalk blocking, catching ability, strength , and speed it takes to play the position. Without further hesitation, let’s analyze why these players are underrated but are ballers at the same time!
Drew Rhodes- 6’1 190Ibs/WR,TE/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Drew Rhodes is a very good hybrid tight end. You can line him up at the wide receiver position as well. Rhodes has the speed and has very good reliable hands. If you are a quarterback in need of a guy to rely on, Drew Rhodes is a guy you can count on to make plays and secure possession catches. He can block extremely well and is a physical tight end on the line! Only a sophomore, Drew Rhodes has time to improve his mechanics and fundaments which will allow him to become a premier player on the rise.
Keaton Kubecka Keaton Kubecka 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Westlake | 2023 State TX – 6’3 195Ibs/WR/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Keaton Kubecka Keaton Kubecka 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Westlake | 2023 State TX is a wide receiver that has the ability to turn into a super star. He had a very good junior year racking up a total of 714 receiving yards on 42 receptions and 15 touchdowns! Kubecka clocked a 4.58 40 yard dash and a 4.38 shuttle time which is legit! You can line him up inside the numbers or outside the numbers. Kubecka is quick in his cuts in and out of routes which makes it difficult for corners and safeties to guard him. Also, he has tremendous after the catch ability. Look for him to have an outstanding senior season at Austin Westlake High School, and potentially rack up more offers.
Luis Jaramillo- 5’9 155Ibs/WR/ Cedar Ridge High School
Analysis: Luis Jaramillo has shown that he has the skills to ball out. Even though he is undersized, he is a guy that can still make big plays for his team! Clocking a 4.6 40 yard dash, and 4.2 shuttle time, Jaramillo has shown his quickness in between the numbers catching the ball. He is a very physical blocker, showing that he puts corner backs on their backs consistently. Also, he has good route running abilities, and does a good job gaining yards after the catch. Just a sophomore, Jaramillo can unlock his full potential in the next two years if he is given a fair shot to train and develop.
Alex Green- 6’0 185Ibs/WR/ Hutto High School
Analysis: Alex Green is a wide receiver that I would consider putting on my recruiting list. He has the speed, running a 4.5 40 and clocking a 4.3 shuttle. Then he has the vertical to go up, and catch contested balls jumping 34 inches in his vertical test. He is a very good route runner and has the hands to go along with it. With his stature and skill, Green has shown that he can catch any ball thrown his way inside and outside the numbers. In his sophomore season he racked up 29 receptions for 323 yards and 1 touchdown! He will only improve moving forward. When he catches the ball, make sure you wrap him up because he still has break away speed that can hurt your team. Keep your eye on him this season!
Noah Baker- 6’2 190Ibs/WR/ LBJ High School
Analysis: Just a junior last season, Noah Baker has shown phenomenal play on the field. He can play both sides of the ball showing that he has versatility in his game. Baker has some of the best hands that I have seen. He has superb route running skills and has very good speed in the open field. On defense, he is extremely good in man coverage and has a smooth back peddle. Baker mainly plays defense, but has shown he has the skill set to play wide receiver as well.
