The players on this list have shown that they have a tremendous amount of potential to compete with some of the best wide receivers in the state as well. Some of them are at a higher skill level talent wise, and others may need more training and development, but that does not negate the fact that they can improve and become premier players. Without further notice, let’s dive in to some sleeper wide receivers in the Austin area.
Jacob Kastl- 6’0 175Ibs/WR/ Bowie High School
Analysis: Jacob Kastl is a receiver to watch for in 2022. He clocked a 4.58 40 yard dash time, bench presses 245Ibs, and squats 435Ibs. Kastl is a really good stalk blocker in the run game and he has decent route running abilities in and outside the numbers. He is also a really good weapon in the wildcat position and possesses good strength making it difficult to bring him down. With more experience, Kastl can make some more noise his senior season!
Carmine Elisarraraz- 5’9 160Ibs/WR/ Bowie High School
Analysis: Carmine Elisarraraz is a guy that can turn into a great weapon on offense and on special teams. He has the break away speed to take it to the house, and has enough quickness to juke and maneuver around defenders. Elisarraraz has pretty decent hands and has good route running skills as well. Just a sophomore, Carmine has shown that he has the potential to get better and become a good receiver with more training and development with his mechanics. Also, when he runs his routes, he is quick in and out of cuts. Look for him to become a good wide receiver the next two years!
Miles Coleman- 5’5 140Ibs/WR/ Vandegrift High School
Analysis: Miles Coleman is another upcoming sophomore that you need to keep your eye on next year. Coleman put up good numbers concerning his bench, squat, and 40 time clocking a 4.6. Also, this young man has a good vertical jumping 34 inches which is extremely high for a man his height! He has very soft hands which allows him to catch anything thrown his way. Also, he can block well too and has the ability to get extra yards after the catch. Throw it up to him, and he can jump high enough to go grab the ball at its highest point.
Gavin Chapa- 5’9 144Ibs/WR, Slot/ Cedar Park High School
Analysis: Gavin Chapa is a player that will only improve the more he trains and develop. Even though he is undersized, he has shown that he possesses decent hands, and quickness to play the slot position. You can also use him on special teams as well because he has the speed to become a playmaker. He is only a sophomore, but Chapa can become a very good slot receiver. Also, he has decent route running skills, but he still needs to improve. With more development, Gavin Chapa can be a lethal weapon!
Zane Wofford- 5’11 175Ibs/ Cedar Ridge High School
Analysis: Zane Wofford is an excellent inside the numbers receiver. With a 4.5 40 time, and a 4.13 shuttle time, Wofford has shown that he can break down defenders on the dime. He has really good hands, making one hand catches from time to time. Wofford is very quick in his route running as well. Next he also has the footwork to go along with his route running which allows him to have quick and fast releases! I see him becoming a dangerous weapon in the upcoming fall 2022 football season! Keep an eye out for him.
