With football evolving into more of a passing game nowadays the defensive end or "pass rusher" position is more important now than ever! In this list I have looked throughout the state of Texas and found some pass rushing talent that are looking to make some noise this upcoming season!
[player_tooltip player_id="136143" first="Thomas" last="Colligan"] DE 6’3" 245lbs Alamo Heights 2023
2021 stats: 18 sacks 12tfl 55 tackles
[player_tooltip player_id="136143" first="Thomas" last="Colligan"] is an absolute game wrecker! Gives Alamo Heights the ability to just rush 2 pass rushers and still create pressure on the quarterback, knifing through double team blocks and wreaking havoc on every play! Colligan bull rushes early to set up the spin move later, that shows a prospect that knows what he is doing on the field! Colligan has good size for the position and plays with shocking speed, shooting off the line of scrimmage, beating offensive linemen off the snap to chase down their quarterback!
Nathaniel Tealer DE Harlen 2024
Tealer holds his own in the run game, doesn’t get pushed backwards and clogs holes with the ability to tackle while engaged with a blocker. Also a force while rushing the passer, Tealer shows good hand fighting and has a nice swim move. His get off when the ball is snapped makes him a constant backfield disruption. Heading into his junior season, I expect Tealers snap count to rise along with his name.
[player_tooltip player_id="136139" first="Dylan" last="Spencer"] DE 6’5" 250lbs Houston C.E. King 2023
2021 stats: 32 tackles 11 TFL 8 sacks 10 pressures 2 FF 1 FR
There is a reason why the University of Texas is so excited to get the commitment of [player_tooltip player_id="136139" first="Dylan" last="Spencer"] added to their 2023 recruiting class! This guy is a monster on the football field holding down the run and being completely disruptive in the passing game! Dylan gets underneath offensive linemen’s pads before they have a chance to reach out to block him, giving him the advantage to shed the block and meet the ball carrier in a hurry!
Kam Bizor DE 6’3" 230lbs Houston Yates 2023
2021 stats: 4.5 sacks 39 tackles 6.5 TFL 2 FF 1 FR
Bizor is an incredible athlete with deceptive speed playing the edge position, I would really like to see what his 40 time is! Bizor is a big guy chasing down runningbacks 30 yards down the field! He is a constant disruption behind the line of scrimmage, chasing down quarterbacks with relentless and tenacious pass rush!
[player_tooltip player_id="276107" first="Kaden" last="Freeman"] 6’4" 230lbs DE Reedy
Freeman’s hand fighting while taking on offensive linemen is so effective on a consistent basis, he just sweeps their hands away and gets after the quarterback. It really surprised me how often and quickly he would be able to chase down runningback on the opposite side of the field, if you run it his way or not he will find the ball carrier.
[player_tooltip player_id="259525" first="Billy" last="Walton"] 6’4" 220lbs DE South Oak Cliff
2021 stats: 55 tackles 9 TFL 12 sacks 2 PBU
After watching the film I can safely say Walton does it all, he can bull rush and push the pocket or he can hit a swim move and meet the quarterback in a hurry. Walton is quick off the line and will hurt your offense if left unblocked. He can be an anchor in the run game and I’ve even seen Walton drop back in coverage productively. This is a special athlete with tons of potential and tons of D1 offers, with another year still to come I’m sure [player_tooltip player_id="259525" first="Billy" last="Walton"] will have alot more teams to pick through.
[player_tooltip player_id="288361" first="Tre" last="Sippio"] 6’2" 230lbs DE Frisco Lonestar
2021 stats: 34 tackles 4 TFL 7 sacks 1 FF 1 PBU 12 hurries
Sippio has great hand technique when rushing off the edge and a smooth spin move that allows him to quickly beat offensive tackles. With incredible bend and intensity, Sippio is in the backfield and on the quarterback with relentless pressure. This kid zooms to the football, ready to meet ball carriers with fierce contact.
Kyle "boogie" Thompson DT/DE 6’3" 240lbs Aledo
Boogie Thompson is an absolute terror to offensive linemen, pushing them back on his way to the ball carrier. 14 tackles for loss to go along with 3 sacks and 20 quaterback hurries means he is a HUGE disruption in the backfield. Most of that coming from the defensive tackle postion where he primarily lines up which makes it even more impressive. A previous 2x state champion with Aledo, you can tell on tape Thompson has been coached up well. Whoever finds Boogie is going to be happy with his results.
