The event, which will be held Saturday at Rocky River High School (Mint Hill, N.C.), will feature more than 100 players from North and South Carolina from the 2023-2025 classes. Here are some of the Palmetto State athletes who could use the combine to their full advantage.
Aliam Appler Aliam Appler 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Dutch Fork | 2023 State SC , QB, Dutch Fork
The second-year Dutch Fork signal caller is preparing to take over the top job after playing mostly mop-up time last year. He’s got a big body and has already spent significant time learning the Silver Foxes’ system. That’s all a check mark on his resume. But the combine will let him show off his arm, too.
Kyle Baldwin Kyle Baldwin 5'10" | 190 lbs | DB Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC , WR, Oceanside Collegiate
Baldwin is one of a small number of 2025 receivers to watch in South Carolina. And he’s a few months of work away from jumping way up the big board. He’s spent this offseason with the OCA track program working on his speed.
Davian Brown Davian Brown 5'7" | 190 lbs | RB Fort Dorchester | 2024 State SC , RB, Fort Dorchester
One of the most interesting running back prospects in the state, the 5-foot-6 Brown has a bit of Darren Sproles to his running game. If he can add to his pass-catching ability, the former three-year starter at First Baptist could become a legit Class 5A 1,000-yard player this year at Fort D.
Chris Dixon Chris Dixon 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL South Pointe | 2024 State SC , DL, South Pointe
At 6-foot-1 and 250 pounds, Dixon is pure power. The combine events he’ll be participating in should only illuminate his strengths that much more. The all-region defensive tackle played a huge role in South Pointe’s 2021 state championship.
Cameron Faircloth Cameron Faircloth 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Loris | 2023 State SC , LB, Loris
Faircloth is one of those defensive players who could probably play at least eight different positions. He’s long and has a quick burst, not to mention a nose for the ball. He’s spent this spring playing for the Lions baseball squad but will be expect to lead the Loris defense in 2022.
Jamarious Lockett Jamarious Lockett 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Gray Collegiate | 2024 State SC , ATH, Gray Collegiate
Lockett is one of the more notable transfers this offseason, leaving his old spot at Ridge Spring-Monetta for the Class 2A powerhouse Gray. Lockett is an elite weapon who likely would have been RSM’s starting quarterback this fall. Instead, he’s off to Gray, which will find ways to keep him involved.
Kamadi Maxwell, WR, Lexington
The Wildcats’ top receiver from 2021 is primed have an even better senior season alongside quarterback Taiden Mines Taiden Mines 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Lexington | 2024 State SC . Not everything Maxwell does well will translate to huge combines stats, but the overall body of work could be telling.
Gavin Owens Gavin Owens 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Rabun Gap | 2025 State GA , QB, Wren
Owens is the type of player who could flirt with the top spot in the Prep Red Zone Class of 2025 overall rankings for years to come. What’s more, his offseason conditioning with with Ramon Robinson leaves him primed to excel in these types of events. Owens will almost assuredly make some noise this weekend.
