Offensive Weapons to Watch in 2022 (Pt. 1)

While it’s true that defense wins championships, scoring a lot of points (specifically more than your opponent) always helps. As football has progressed, we have seen the passing game evolve at all levels of play. As well, we have seen an evolution in defenses having more of an emphasis on the pass rush. But never count out a solid rushing attack either. The game is ever evolving, and we are seeing more and more points being scored. In this two-part article we will look at some of the players that are looking to make big plays and guide their teams to victory in the 2022 season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="207208" first="Garyt" last="Odom"] QB #3 c/o ’25</strong> <strong>Shiloh Christian Saints</strong> <strong>Springdale, AR</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="207208" first="Garyt" last="Odom"] is a young man that has great size, and a big arm. At 6’1", Odom is deceptively quick. His 4.7 second 40-yard dash definitely helps get him out of trouble on the occasional pocket breakdown. Garyt has all of the measurables that you would want in a quarterback. He has great agility, he has a big arm, he’s patient in the pocket, and not scared to run if he has to. While he will have to wait his turn behind [player_tooltip player_id="75133" first="Eli" last="Wisdom"], Odom has tremendous upside and will only continue to get better. Look for the Shiloh Christian Saints to have another big season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75135" first="Carston" last="Poole"] QB #16 c/o ’23</strong> <strong>Prescott Curly Wolves</strong> <strong>Prescott, AR</strong> The very first thing that I noticed when watching [player_tooltip player_id="75135" first="Carston" last="Poole"]’s tape is his quick release. The ball seems to launch right out of his hands, powered by a rocket. Poole has a big arm and is very accurate. His 6’2", 180lb frame makes him hard to bring down. Carston is not scared to use his legs either, his 4.7 second 40 makes him a liability to every defense that he plays. Poole is a game changer, and the reigning Class 3A Passing Leader. Last season he passed for 2800 yards and had 32 touchdowns. He looks to help lead the Prescott Curly Wolves to victory in 2022. <strong>Jyrique Walker RB #6 c/o ’23</strong> <strong>Fordyce Red Bugs</strong> <strong>Fordyce, AR</strong> Jyrique Walker is an absolute wrecking ball. A downhill runner if I have ever seen one. He has solid vision, and matches that with a quick first step. When Walker hits the gap, he his all but gone. He runs with a fury that is rare, and at 5’9" 170lbs he is not easy to bring down. Jyrique’s explosiveness is what coaches love in a running back, and he will only continue to get better. His blocking is pretty solid as well, and that only gets better with repetitions. Look for Jyrique, and the Fordyce Red Bugs to run through the ’22 season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"] QB #8 c/o ’23</strong> <strong>Arkadelphia Badgers</strong> <strong>Arkadelphia, AR</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="75141" first="Donovan" last="Whitten"]’s stats speak for themselves. The All-State quarterback is coming off of a huge ’21 season, and is poised for continued success in ’22. Whitten’s season consisted of 4,287 total yards, with 49 touchdowns; Whitten was 211/326 (65%) on passing attempts, with 3,605 yards and 43 touchdowns. Donovan is dangerous on the ground as well, having 682 yards on the ground and rushing for 6 touchdowns. He uses his 6’3" 220lb frame to his advantage, and has the arm to show off as well. The Arkadelphia Badgers, and Whitten are ready to make some noise in ’22. &nbsp;
