In this report we are going to highlight some of the linemen on the rise in the state of Texas.
Barrett Eddlemon – La Vernia High School- Class of 2023
Barrett is a 6’4, 280-pound offensive linemen out of in San Antonio, TX. Barrett has been around the LT2FBA brand for a year and a half now and has done an elite job being coachable, taking criticism, and developing himself. Last fall he played at a high level at offensive tackle and is now pushing five-star status by moving inside to center. He took live reps there recently at a Rivials camp and dominated. As I always say versatility equals value and I look forward to watching his development as the summer progresses.
Drew Perez – Southlake Highschool- Class of 2023
Drew is massive 6’8, 330 pound offensive tackle out of Southlake Texas. He has good bend, a nice kick slide, and great mobility for a guy his size. From seeing him at multiple camps this summer I have been impressed with his recovery skills and his ability to get himself out of a bad spot. He has the prototypical offensive tackle’s frame with long arms, quick feet and a large lower body. I predict power 5 offers to start rolling in for him soon.
Jake Young – JJ Pearce – Class of 2024
Jake is a 6’5 270 pound prospect who has taken huge steps forward with the development of his game and technique. His home position is at tackle but he has looked great taking snaps at center. The biggest difference between tackle and center, in my opinion, is that at tackle you are on an island alone with a lot of space, at guard you are fighting in a phone booth and everything happens fast. At center, it’s like you’re inside of the microphone in the phone booth with how tight everything is and how fast it happens. With his range, I can see him thriving at center long term and I am interested in seeing him take live reps there this summer on the camp circuit.
Bryan Buckett— OG — Denton Ryan High school -Class of 2023
Bryan is a stout interior lineman that is nasty, physical and tough. He has done a good job putting himself in a position to be recognized and recruited. What impressed me the most about his game was his finish and how he consistently tries to dump and pancake his defender. He is returning next year and will be a huge cog in Denton Ryans hopes to repeat next year.
Brione Brooks – South Oak Cliff High school – Class of 2023
Brione is one of the biggest players in the country coming in at 6’5” and weighing in at 360 pounds. He was a leader for one of the nastiest offensive lines in the state of Texas at South Oak Cliff. For example, he showed the ability to maul any defender that was put in front of him last fall and now he is off to a great start on the summer camp circuit showing his pass protection skills. Brione still has to shed some bad bodyweight but his quickness and ability to mirror in pass protection has improved tremendously compared to last summer.
Derrick Eddlemon Derrick Eddlemon 6'3" | 245 lbs | OL La Vernia | 2025 TX – La Vernia High School- Class of 2025
Derrick is a lean, smart, and active player that has a great base, set, and punch. He has the ability to play tackle or guard and understands how use leverage and his power angles to gain an advantage on the defender.
He is the younger brother of Barrett Eddlemon and looks to be a just as talented offensive linemen. At 250 pounds he has some room where he can continue to fill out his frame without losing any mobility. Just as his brother he is academically strong and setting himself up for future success on the recruiting trail.
