They put their bodies on the line every single play, just to gain one yard, or prevent the other team from gaining one yard. With that being said, their are some premier linemen on both sides of the ball in the city of Austin, Texas. Some of them are going to be playing ball at the next level because their play on the gridiron has proven that they have what it takes. Let’s dive in and take a look at some of the most prominent defensive linemen in the city!
Jacob Henry- 6’1 270Ibs/NG/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Jacob Henry is a young prospect that I see becoming a super star for Lake Travis in a couple of years. He is a beast! Henry possesses excellent lower body strength squatting 550 pounds with a bench press of 275 pounds. He does a really good job breaking double teams and makes sure he stays in his gaps to stop the run. Jacob Henry also does a tremendous job getting pressure on the quarterback. Once this young man takes hold of you, you might as well go down while you have the chance! On the gridiron, Henry also does a great job at stunts to confuse the blocking scheme of the offensive line! Just a sophomore last season, this young man has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps up the way he is playing!
Griffen Willis- 6’1 270Ibs/DT/ Lake Travis High School
Analysis: Griffen Willis is a stud on defense. With a stout build and excellent strength, he can move anybody out of his way at will! He put up impressive combine numbers benching 375 pounds, deadlifting 500 pounds, squatting 500 pounds, and cleaning 305 pounds. On the gridiron, he plays nasty and is very physical. He is an excellent tackler and a guy that you must account for on every single play. Willis is amazing at shedding blocks and making plays when needed. Next, he is known for putting offensive linemen on their back and clogging holes! He is a monster, look for him to have an excellent senior season at Lake Travis High School.
Kale Williams- 6’1 230Ibs/DT/ Austin Westlake High School
Analysis: Kale Williams is a guy that can make some noise this year as well. Even though he is 230 at the defensive tackle position, he is a lot stronger than what he looks like. Benching 295 pounds, and squatting 475 pounds, Williams is more than strong enough to hold his own! He is very disciplined staying with his assignment. He has good technique staying low and driving his feet to drive linemen backwards. Next, he possesses really good speed for a defensive lineman running a 4.8 40 yard dash. On the field, Williams can take on double teams as well while trying to make the tackle immediately. Watch out for him this year!
Ansel Nedore- 6’4 260Ibs/DT/ Round Rock High School
Analysis: Ansel Nedore had a pretty good season last year. Nedore racked up a total of 57 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 4 pass break ups which is impressive for a defensive lineman! He is very explosive off of the snap, and can make plays in your back field in the blink of an eye. This young man is extremely strong. He sheds blocks and double teams in his sleep, while still maintaining posture and technique! Finally, he plays with a really high motor and does not stop pursuing the ball carrier until the whistle stops! Look for Ansel Nedore to have a superb senior season!
Jett Jones- 6’1 300Ibs/DT/ Round Rock High School
Analysis: Jett Jones is a force to be reckoned with on the field. This young man can wreck havoc on defenses! He racked up a total of 56 tackles, 32 solo tackles, and 15 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and12 quarter back hurries. Jones tackles very well, and moves well for a man his size and weight. He has decent speed and can shed blocks with his hands as well. Jones can also make the pocket smaller, and does a tremendous job at getting pressure on the quarterback! If he keeps playing the way he is playing, he will be on track to have an excellent senior season at Round Rock High School!
