In this article, we will analyze some of the most underrated defensive linemen in the city of Austin, Texas, as well as up and coming young players who have the potential to become great. These young men play nasty, physical, and play with a high motor no matter the size or height. Without further due, let’s dive in and take a look at some of the players.
Andrew Urban Jr- 6’0 195Ibs/DE/ Weiss High School
Analysis: Andrew Urban is a young up and coming player in the Austin area. Urban has decent speed and is really quick off of the edge when he is rushing the passer. Just a sophomore, Urban does a really good job at pursuing the ball carrier. He is a good tackler in the open field and does a great job at setting the edge in order to prevent running backs from turning up field. The more Urban develops, he will only become more physical and stronger if he keeps up his level of play!
Kaiser Qiu- 6’1 245Ibs/DE/ A&M Consolidated High School
Analysis: Kaiser Qiu is an underrated defensive lineman on the rise. Qiu has good get off speed and can develop into a tremendous pass rusher. He has really good technique when it comes to using his long arms and hands on the line of scrimmage. Qiu does an excellent job getting pressure on the quarterback and making keen tackles when needed. He is also fast for his size clocking a 4.7 40 yard dash and showing his strength benching 310 pounds and squatting 460! The more he plays, the better he gets! Keep an eye out for him next year!
Jeremiah Bales- 6’4 305Ibs/DT/ Marble Falls High School
Analysis: Jeremiah Bales can become a force on defense the more he develops. Bales has a solid frame and can do a lot of damage on the defensive side of the ball. He still has two more years to develop and can become a stud with more training. This young athlete simply uses his strength and size to bully opponents and make plays in the backfield. Finally, Bales is a physical nose guard as well, and he is on track to having a good junior and senior season.
Carson Klaemer- 6’2 245Ibs/DT/ Bastrop High School
Analysis: Carson Klaemer is another defensive lineman that is going to be looking forward to having a good senior season. When it comes to technique, Klaemer is one of the best at keeping his pad levels low, using his hands and arms, and keeping leverage on his opponents. Even though he is undersized at the defensive tackle position, Klaemer plays physical and with a chip on his shoulder. Carson Klaemer is also a good tackler, and can shed blocks consistently! Also, he maintains gap discipline and tries his best to keep the ball carrier from gaining extra yards using his good strength! Keep an eye on him moving forward!
Jusiah Sampleton- 6’0 295Ibs/DT/ Giddings High School
Analysis: Jusiah Sampleton is a sleeper on this list. This young man was the defensive MVP last year and scored a 1310 on his SAT showing his brains. He has a solid build all around and can move for his size clocking a 4.9 40! Sampleton can clog any hole and break through double teams very well! Sampleton is extremely explosive off of the ball! When he is on the move, he is planning on laying a hat on someone consistently showing his physicality. This young man has brute strength almost benching 400 pounds, and squatting 600 pounds! Also, he is a physical tackler, and is a very disciplined nose guard who you can count on. Look for him to have an astounding 2022 football season!
