So far this off-season I have watched many talented wide receivers that return next year in 2022. I was very impressed with these ranked receivers that return this upcoming season. I love watching the wide receiver position and seeing what skills they possess. Here is a look at a few of the class of 2023 wide receivers that are on the newly updated rankings. I look forward to watching these guys play this year. #12 [player_tooltip player_id="300052" first="Calvin" last="Cade"] | Avondale | 2023 | Hudl Cade does a great job of getting outside and blocking. He has the athleticism to break down and block opponents in space. Cade has great quickness off the line of scrimmage. Avondale also plays Cade at the cornerback position on defense. He has a good fluid backpedal and shows the ability to make plays on the football. Cade is a great tackler on the kickoff team as well. [player_tooltip player_id="300052" first="Calvin" last="Cade"] will have a chance to make plays in all facets of the football game once again in 2022. #11 [player_tooltip player_id="286467" first="Brody" last="Thompson"] | Rockford | 2023 | Hudl Thompson does a great job of working to get open. Thompson has great acceleration and can get upfield quickly for big yardage. Thompson is great at getting open on deep crossing routes. Thompson has great awareness on the field and has the body control to make sure he is always staying in bounce. [player_tooltip player_id="286467" first="Brody" last="Thompson"] is a great kick returner as well and is outstanding at letting his blocks get set up for him to run. #2 [player_tooltip player_id="178996" first="Evan" last="Boyd"] | East Lansing | 2023 | Hudl I was able to watch Boyd play this past season in 2021. He is a great football player who has an ideal size at 6-3 190lbs. Boyd has the ability to make defenders miss after the catch. He has great acceleration and long speed and can fly past defenders. Boyd shows very good body control as well and can make catches on the sideline. Boyd does a great job of running routes across the middle. Boyd has the versatility to play in the slot and on the outside. I love that [player_tooltip player_id="178996" first="Evan" last="Boyd"] is not afraid of contact and shows the ability to just bounce off defenders. Boyd will be a go-to wide receiver for East Lansing once again in 2022. #2 [player_tooltip player_id="300434" first="Kamari" last="Pearson"] | Plymouth | 2023 | Hudl The first thing that stands out is Pearson’s play speed. He has quickness off the line of scrimmage is outstanding. He does a great job of stopping his body and working back to the football on curl routes. Pearson can make sideline catches with ease. I like that Pearson is almost always getting separation from defensive backs. This is a great trait to have in a receiver and it shows how great his short-area acceleration is. This also makes it easy for the quarterback to complete passes since he does not have to worry about throwing into tight windows. Pearson is excellent at getting the defensive back to commit the opposite way he is going. Pearson is great on defense as well. At the cornerback position, he uses his speed and acceleration to fly up and make tackles with ease.
