Ben Brasher – Evansville North – G/NG – 6’3″ 290lbs
Brasher is exactly the type of guy you want on the front lines. naturally, he has a nice frame and is well-built. He’s someone who plays angry and looks like he’s trying to take off his opponent’s head. For someone his age, his mechanics are fairly good. He keeps a wide base, can reach with his hands and pack a punch, and understands how to gain depth from the interior of the line. he is off the ball rather quickly and doesn’t waste much movement with his feet. In the running game, he’s able to play with good leverage and move his guy back when he needs to. In the passing game, we just mentioned his decent footwork and base, but he also understands how to pick up blitzes and exchange blitzes with the other offensive lineman fairly easily. he comes across as someone who doesn’t need to be told the same thing twice and gets better when you work with him. The talent is clear as day. The size and frame is exactly what you want. Wherever he ends up, he has the chance to be an impact player for them. I’m excited to see what he can do this fall because year one was exciting.
Brennan Baker – Hamilton Southeastern – RB – 5’10″ 176lbs
Baker is a good athlete who is just beginning to get his feet under him in terms of what he can do with the ball in his hands. Last year, the tape was promising based on his efficiency and ability to hit big plays. Baker is someone who has really good vision and understands how to cut back and when to cut back. He’s able to find cutback lanes as they are forming and it helps him get through the hole. He is a strong runner and can break some tackles but not a ton. He has the speed to break the big one when he gets to the second level. Baker has fairly decent side agility and is able to bounce to the next zone when he needs to. He’s a patient runner and understands how to let blocks happen before he hits the gas. I will say, I do think his ped level could drop when he’s carrying the ball but right now I think getting him more reps is the most important thing. The talent is there no doubt, fine-tuning those details is what’s going to be key for him. I think this fall will be very key for him in terms of his development and how far he can go. I’m excited to see his second year on varsity because he really comes across as someone who can be an impact player for them in Week 1 and every week after. Last year he got his feet wet. This year, we’ll see how far he can go.
Jayden Buchanan Jayden Buchanan 5'7" | 150 lbs | QB Roncalli | 2025 State IN – Roncalli – QB/WR – 5’6″ 127lbs
Buchanan is another upcoming prospect who looks like he may be a problem for defenses in the future. The dual-threat quarterback has really good speed and instincts on the field. He doesn’t put the ball in harm’s way, he’s faster than everyone appears to think, and throws a decent ball. Buchanan has a lot of the intangibles you want to see. He understands that the pocket breaks down, when to roll out and keep his eyes downfield, and when to take off. That alone takes guys halfway through their NFL career sometimes to figure out. Having that natural instinct, he’s going to go a long long way in his development. Right now, there’s no way around it but he is a bit shorter than you would like. Obviously, he’s very young and has plenty of time to grow. I’m not overly worried, because you either got “IT” or you don’t. Buchanan’s got “IT” and is only going to get better as he gets older and develops. Mechanically in the pocket, there’s a decent amount of work to be done. On the run and with his eyes downfield, his mechanics are fairly decent. I do think that his ball placement is nice, but I would like to see his arm get a little bit stronger over the coming years. I anticipate that it will and I’m not worried about that either. Regardless of that, there is a lot to like with Buchanan and what he can be. If he’s able to develop, there’s no telling how far he can go.
Charles Dabner – Cathedral – TE
Dabner appears to be the real deal in terms of playing tight end. While I was unable to find a height and weight, I’ll get that soon enough and be able to update this. However, the point is he is a true on the ball tight end. At least, that’s how Cathedral is using him and he is successful. He can put his hand in the ground and block. He’s able to seal the edge and win one-on-one blocks. They send him in motion and use him as a crackback from time to time as well. he is able to keep a nice base, nice leverage, and fight back in those situations. His route running and minor nuances like that are a work in progress. He’s not bad, he’s just not been given as many reps as he would be if he was a receiver. He’s got good ball skills and understands when to jump to high point the ball and bring it down. He’s got strong hands and can pluck the ball right out of the air. I do think right now he also looks a little thin in terms of muscle and weight, but he’s got time and I imagine he will easily put the weight on later in high school. There are a lot of things to like about what he can bring to the field now and later. Cathedral is a smart football program and they are going to reap the benefits with Dabner when he hits his stride. The future is bright, and I’m really really excited to see what he can do with a bigger role moving forward.
