Continue ReadingWe dive into the tape of our stockrisers in the Dakotas 2024 class! Because of the mostly watchlist prospects we had last time from the 2024 class, there won’t be as many stockrisers than some of the other classes because the 2024 class were mainly all new names last time around when we evaluating our rankings.
We did however have plenty of prospects that went from our 2024 Watchlist to our official 2024 rankings, which does not come with some solid developments in their game. These first 8 stockrisers either were highly ranked prospects that moved a couple huge spots or climbed their way onto our 2024 rankings from that watchlist mentioned above!. Take a dive at who made it!
Tate Schafer Tate Schafer 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD | QB | Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD) | Tape & Twitter
The athletic ability Tate has with his legs, is the big reason he is our #1 QB in the Class of 2024. He has elusive footwork to get out of jam and still make a completive deep or intermediate throw from the run with great poise and accuracy. I love watching him consistently on tape stepping up into the pocket which seems to create a significant cushion for him to gain space to throw. He shows off a solid touch ball that shows great precision, especially with the speedy wide receiving core the Patriots have to throw to. He has some slight room of development in his ball placement on shorter routes, but heck Tate has the gamer mentality I would want at quarterback on my college football team. A slightly mover from #7 to #5 in our overall rankings for the 2024 class.
Boden Schiller Boden Schiller ATH Sioux Valley | 2024 State SD | ATH | Sioux Valley (SD) | Tape & Twitter
Boden is a jack of all trades for the Sioux Valley Cossacks on both sides of the ball. He has very efficient footwork as an outside linebacker and has significant vision to find the football between a sea of linemen in high traffic situations. As a pass-catcher I was impressed with Boden’s extended reach he brought to the table on his sophomore tape. Boden shows a really nice burst when he hits the open field in the Cossacks rushing attack. Boden is a sideline to sideline linebacker that covers a sizeable coverage area as an OLB. Boden shows good contact, and I think has the development in his game to make it great, as this young man has plenty of years left to get even stronger with that punch in the mouth linebacker that he is. Boden moved from a 2024 watch list prospect, to the #27 prospect in our overall rankings and the #1 athlete overall.
Dawson Sechser Dawson Sechser 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2024 State SD | ATH | Sioux Falls Jefferson (SD) | Tape & Twitter
Dawson has some versatile skillsets especially at the linebacker position. His blitzing ability comes with some hard contact level and has enough force in his 5’11 175 pound to knock the ball loose when attacking at a solid pad-level. Regardless of the side I am watching from on Dawson’s tape, I believe this young man has underappreciate speed with and without the football. Dawson also shows durability as a pass catcher in the middle of the field, and can break thru tackles when the secondary puts a weak matchup and aims high on their tackles. The biggest skillset he can improve on is his stamina speed, as I think he has significant growth on finishing his runs to improve the full skillset of his throttle from start to finish. Dawson is certainly one of the better pass coverage linebackers I have seen on tape from this 2024 Dakotas class from top to bottom, as his footwork and comfortability looks in tact when he’s going up against WR2 or WR3. Also a strong three-sport athlete for the Cavs. Dawson is another that moved from a watchlist prospect to a Top 30 prospect in 2024.
Brandon Kjetland Brandon Kjetland 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Canistota | 2024 State SD | OL | Canistota (SD) Tape & Twitter
I got my full dose of Brandon while watching him in depth at our Prep Redzone Dakotas showcase this winter. His tape just doesn’t do the justice how tough this kid is, and guess what? He is growing like a weed at 6’5 250 pounds already. Brandon has to be one of the best angle hog mollies I have seen in the 2024 class in the Dakotas, as his shoving ability to drive the DL in the opposite direction of the ball carrier is fantastic. His punching ability in Fargo, certainly showed a young man that plays with a fearless demeanor. I am still trying to find out if I like his hip drive as a defensive linemen even more than offense, as to me offense still has the slight edge, but its darn close. Like I said in Fargo, I am a big fan of this kid’s growing technique and increased leverage really make a strong stance for his future. Brandon moves from a watchlist prospect to #34 overall and the #3 offensive linemen in the Dakotas that is just going to keep rising up our recruiting board in my eyes.
Simon Fried Simon Fried 5'7" | 150 lbs | WR Mobridge-Pollock | 2024 State SD | WR | Mobridge-Pollock (SD) | Tape & Twitter
Simon is a raw wide receiver prospect, however puts together some good skillsets on tape. He needs to work on his footwork to grow a better eye from college coaches, but there is good stuff to like about his burst. He does shows great efficiency on his route running and can stop on a dime to establish traction with the first down markers on short routes. Out of the slot, Simon has to be a target on screens you need to watch for, as his speed comes out big time in the open field and although he needs more agile movement with his footwork, this kid is a for sure burner. If this young man can grind in the weight room, he has some good potential to grow his rank higher in the coming updates, as I think he could grow up a few spots in the coming year or so. Simon walks onto our rankings as an inside the Top 70 prospect.
