As we know, the state of Georgia is littered every year with future PO5 and NFL talent. For that reason, there is a surplus of under-the-radar players that have plenty to offer for big-time schools.
Here are the 4 we selected to close out this list…
CB | Taylor Cox-Young – 5’10 – Creekview
Cox-Young is a prospect that I have mentioned numerous times as someone that is massively underrecruited, so there was no debate as to if he would be on this list or not. Last season, Cox-Young broke onto the scene with a big junior season. If he can replicate that same success in 2022, he has the potential to be a late bloomer on the recruiting trail. Playing almost strictly at CB, this Creekview standout has the makings of a shutdown man-to-man corner. FOr starters, he is one of the fastest DBs in the state of Georgia with 4.4 level speed. This allows him to flip his hips and run with anyone he lines up against. To go along with his speed, he happens to be a very physical corner that plays through the ball to break up passes. Thus far, a recent visit to Kennesaw State is all he has to show on the trail for his work. I expect that to change.
CB | Dre Raven – 5’10 – Gainesville
Raven and the aforementioned Cox-Young are very similar prospects. Mostly thanks to their speed. Raven is able to step up and get physical in man coverage, but he really stands out when he backs off the line of scrimmage. He reads the QBs eyes extremely well, and his speed allows him to break on the ball and jump routes with ease. On film, you can see him break away multiple long INT runs, which is credited to his ability to be in the right place at the right time. After a big junior season, Raven did pick up an FCS offer from Austin Peay. Still, he remains massively underrecruited, but that again could change if he can replicate the same success he had a year ago.
CB | Jaylen Moson – 5’11 – Kennesaw Mountain
Moson recently picked up an offer from FBS Akron, but he is still a recruit that is widely unknown and underrated on the national level. At 5’11, Moson has enough length to step up and play press coverage if he needs to, but he is a true difference-maker in zone coverage. He does a great job of reading the QB and breaking on the ball, he is also extremely twitchy and athletic which allows him to make acrobatic plays in coverage. To go along with his impressive skillset, Moson also had a productive junior season. On the year, Moson finished with 23 tackles, 18 PBUs, and 1 INT. With another big season on the horizon, Moson will look to put his name on the map even more. Great athletes with versatility don’t go unnoticed for long, and this Kennesaw Mountain standout definitely fits that description.
S | Caleb Tisby – 5’10 – Statesboro
At the Safety spot, you need a player that is physical enough to line up in the box and come downhill and someone that is fast enough to lineup against receivers. Tisby fits that mold. He is mostly at LB or coming off the edge to rush the passer, which is where he flashes his explosiveness and ability to come downhill. However, he does drop back in coverage at the safety position at times, where his speed makes him more than capable of covering faster players. Not only does Tisby have all the necessary tools to play the safety spot, but he also goes above and beyond to make plays. On film, you can see him forcing turnovers to take the ball to the house and even block punts on special teams. All in all, Tisby is an extremely aggressive player that has all the tools you need to be a force at the safety spot on defense.
S | Brandon M Brown Brandon M Brown 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Collins Hill | 2023 State GA – 6’0 – Collins Hill
Last season, Brandon M Brown Brandon M Brown 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Collins Hill | 2023 State GA was overshadowed by elite recruit Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA at the DB spot. But make no mistake, he has all the tools to become a big-time contributor at the HS level and beyond. For starters, he is a rangey prospect with great length. At the safety spot, that range allows him to patrol the secondary with ease and come downfield quickly to make plays on the ball carrier. He is also a great form tackler, which is showcased a lot on film. To go along with his skill set, his length makes him disruptive in press coverage and allows him to knock the ball away from the receiver with ease. With some added weight, Brown could become an even more physically dominating player than he is now. Brown is projected to play at the safety position, but he has all the tools to line up at any DB spot. In 2022, Brown is one of my picks to break out in a huge way.
