These five are a great place to start.
Thanks to some relocations and/or re-zoning or swaps from a private to a public, four schools are immediate beneficiaries from player transfers. In each scenario, the player didn’t go far, meaning their new schools are already well-versed in the type of talent joining the roster.
Davian Brown Davian Brown 5'7" | 190 lbs | RB Fort Dorchester | 2024 State SC , RB, Fort Dorchester
Brown was a three-year starter at SCISA program First Baptist. That included an eight-grade campaign in which he rushed for 943 yards and 16 touchdowns. Had it not been for First Baptist shutting down its season due to COVID-19 exposures, he would have topped 1,000 yards as a freshman, too. Needless to say, perennial powerhouse Fort Dorchester gets a solid pick-up here – and one with two more seasons of eligibility remaining.
Traevon Dunbar Traevon Dunbar 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Midland Valley | 2024 State SC , RB, Midland Valley
A March transfer from Class 2A runner up Silver Bluff had arguably the best running back in the entire state on the move. At Midland Valley, Dunbar (2,100 total yards, 29 touchdowns last year) will join most of his childhood friends who won a city championship in middle school ranks. This one instantly elevates a budding Mustangs program up a few notches.
Christian Henderson Christian Henderson 5'8" | 160 lbs | DB Greenville | 2025 State SC , DB, Greenville
Henderson (pictured) was a big part of a stout defense at Southside Christian a year ago. That squad ran roughshod over its opponents and won a second consecutive Class 1A state championship. Henderson’s contribution included 32 tackles, four picks and five pass breaks-ups – all as a 14-year old. His move to Greenville adds a game-ready body on a roster expected to compete.
Armoni Weaver Armoni Weaver 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , DB, Byrnes
Weaver transferred from Dorman just prior to the start of the second semester, meaning he’ll have the full offseason and spring ball to prove his mettle with the Rebels. Weaver very well could end up being a four-year starting corner, and after that, he’s already projecting out as an FBS-level player. Yeah, the expectations are up there.
Chamarryus Bomar Chamarryus Bomar 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , QB, Byrnes
Like Weaver, Bomar is also making the short jump from nearby Dorman. And like Weaver, Bomar will have every opportunity to start in his first year at his new school. The 6-foot, 180-pounder has the confidence of South Carolina QB whisperer Ramon Robinson and has all the tools to play this position in one of the toughest regions the state in Class 5A.
