Athletes were tested in several combine drills such as the 40 yard dash, the 5-10-5 shuttle run, and the broad jump. They were also evaluated in individual positional dills, 1V1’s, and 7V7’s. Here are a list of some of the top performers from the event.
Gartrell Johnson
5’11” 160 lbs
Wide Receiver/ Defensive Back
Reginald Lewis High School
Johnson was definitely one of the Top Performers in the combine portion of the showcase. He ran the fastest 40 yard dash with a time of 4.47. He was also 1st in the Broad Jump and displayed his explosiveness with a distance of 11 feet, and was 2nd overall in the 5-10-5 shuttle with a time of 4.5 seconds. His athletic ability transcended well into the 1v1 and 7v7 portion of the showcase as he was one of the more difficult receivers for defenders to cover during the day.
Far’d Myles
5’10” 200 lbs
Running Back
Loch Raven High School
Myles was has a great combination of speed and size that will work well at the next level. He ran the 2nd fastest 40 yard dash of the day with a time of 4.55 seconds, and tied for the fastest 10 yard split with a 1.55. He also finished 2nd in the Broad Jump with a distance of 10’8”. He also showed his ability to be involved in the passing game with great route running and good hands.
Nyjeer Tirado
5’9” 155 lbs
Wide Receiver
Dundalk High School
Tirado showed deceptive route running and athleticism during the showcase. He showed decent speed, running the 3rd fastest 40 yard dash of the day (4.79), but his route running ability caused plenty of problems for defenders in 1v1s and during the 7v7s. The Dundalk receiver displayed his quick burst in the combine portion of the showcase running the fastest 10 yard split (1.55) and jumping the 3rd longest in the Broad Jump (10’4”). He also had the 3rd fastest 5-10-5 shuttle (4.53).
Branden Taylor
5’10” 175 lbs
Defensive Back
Loch Raven High School
Taylor was one of the best defenders of the day. He performed well during individual positional drills and was a solid competitor in the one on one’s. As with many camps, the number of receivers doubles the number of defensive backs so Taylor took a many consecutive reps against fresh-legged receivers, and still won the majority of his reps. He played Cornerback full time during the 7v7’s and didn’t allow many receptions. He ran a 4.69 5-10-5 shuttle and jumped 9′ in the broad jump.
Emeka Eneremadu
6’1” 210 lbs
Defensive Back / Wide Receiver
New Town High School
Eneremadu was another one of the better defenders of the day. He won many reps using great technique in 1v1’s and made a number of heads up plays from the Safety position in the 7v7’s. He has good size, a quick first step, and very good field awareness that allows him to break on balls at the right moment for a pass disruption. He was 2nd overall in the 10 yard split with 1.56 and finished 4th in the Broad Jump with 9’4”. He also ran 4.7 in the 5-10-5 shuttle.
