This article highlights some of the best uncommitted 2023 RBs in Southeast Michigan
[player_tooltip player_id="241272" first="Devin" last="Henry"] (2023) | 5’10 180 RB | Woodhaven
The First-Team All-State running back had a monster junior season. Henry carried the ball 171 times for 1,270 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. Averaging 15 rushes per game, it’s safe to say that [player_tooltip player_id="241272" first="Devin" last="Henry"] is the definition of a featured back. Henry did most of his work in the Downriver Conference which is home to some of the most talented teams in Southeast Michigan. Look for Henry and Woodhaven to compete for another conference title and a deep playoff run in his senior year.
[player_tooltip player_id="241274" first="Tommy" last="Donovan"] (2023) | 5’11 175 RB | South Lyon
When it’s all said and done [player_tooltip player_id="241274" first="Tommy" last="Donovan"] might end up being the greatest running back South Lyon High School has ever seen. In his junior campaign, Donovan rushed for 1384 yards and 19 touchdowns and lead his team to a perfect 9-0 regular-season record and Lakes Valley Conference title. His performance last season was good enough to earn him First-Team All-State, All-Region, and All-Conference honors. The 5’11, 175 pounds back can run and catch the ball out of the backfield which makes him a big-play threat in multiple components of South Lyon’s offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="195148" first="Omari" last="Carter"] (2023) | 5’11 185 RB | Lakeview (transfer) Carlson for 2022 season
[player_tooltip player_id="195148" first="Omari" last="Carter"] is a certified baller. In his junior season for Lakeview, the 5’11, 185 pounds running back averaged 14 yards per touch on his way to 1550 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Carter is a dynamic back with excellent speed and vision. An explosive, one-cut RB that can score anytime he touches the ball.
Sterling Anderson (2023) | 5’8 170 RB | Martin Luther King
Anderson is a speedy back that can bust a big play at any time. The starting running back for the Division 3 State Champions, Sterling Anderson played an integral role in King’s state championship run. With over 700 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns, Sterling Anderson is certainly a prospect to watch in his senior campaign this Fall.
Daedricco Fizer (2023) | 5’9 210 RB | South Lyon East
Fizer is a 1st-Team All-Conference running back playing in the Lakes Valley Conference. The 5’9, 210 pounds running back is built low to the ground and has shown an ability to get downhill in a hurry. When Fizer puts his foot in the ground it takes more than 1 guy to bring him down. He’s 210 pounds with a wrecking ball style of running and is a load to bring down. His running style reminds me of the current Seattle Seahawk, Rashaad Penny.
Mekhi Jenkins (2023) | 5’10 175 RB | Royal Oak
Jenkins is from a long line of football players in his family and he could very well be the most talented of them all. The First-Team OAA Blue athlete stars in the backfield for Royal Oak high school. His best game of the year came against Troy Athens where he scored 3 touchdowns on the ground highlighted by an 80-yard touchdown rush and a 75-yard touchdown rush in the same game. Mekhi Jenkins is a superstar in the OAA Blue and will look to lead his team to a successful season in the Fall.
