The combine, largely geared towards high school athletes, saw a total 1,085 kids go through combine testing drills such as the 40-yard dash, 3-cone drill, vertical jump, broad jump and shuttle run. The top performing athletes from the combine on Saturday, were then invited back on Sunday to compete with the upperclassmen.
Zion Secrease | Running Back | California | 2027
The afternoon belonged to Secrease, just a seventh grader. Originally from the greater Sacramento area, Secrease spent his season with the OC Buckeyes and showed a glimpse into the future. His numbers were special. He finished with with the second fastest overall and first amongst running backs in both the the 40-yard dash (4.846) and the shuttle (7.311). Also finished with the top broad jump (95″) out of all middle school running backs. He had a very, very impressive showing. With another year to go before high school ball, he’s going to be scary next season in youth ball.
Aaron Mora out of Stanton, California had a positive performance at the combine too. Finished with a top-10 overall time among all middle school prospects with a 7.37 in the shuttle and the second best 40-yard dash out of all running backs with a 5.156.
Running Back’s Jordan Lindley and Jeremiah Alegria, both 2026 prospects, had very similar performances at the combine. Alegria, out of Fontana, California will be at Etiwanda High School next year. He brought a down-hill style of play and was a bit bigger at 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds. Lindley, out of Spring Valley, California was the lightest middle school back at just 130 pounds. However, they both ran nearly identical 5.3’s in the 40-yard dash and both finished tied for second among middle school running backs in the broad jump with a 93″.
Arizona’s Jordan Taylor is a back I’m very excited about moving forward. The big back measured in at 5-foot-8 and a whopping 194 pounds at the combine. More impressively, he showed he has some speed with a 5.219 in the 40-yard dash. He also showed off some powerful and explosion with a 91 in the broad jump, which was third highest among middle schools running backs and a 22.3″ in the vertical–which was the top jump.
