Going back to the lab, the five prospects broken down here with our latest Prospect Watch are five highly talented young men that all have a chance to find themselves on the Division 1 level and a few within the Power Five ranks. 1. (WR) [player_tooltip player_id="207352" first="London" last="Humphreys"] (6’3 175) - CPA - The crop of receivers for the in-state 2023 class is loaded and one of the top names in this group is Humphreys and this is a talent that is far from reaching his maximum capabilities. The Lions senior wideout brings a lot of strong physical traits and tools to the football field that translate very well into the college game. He is a tall, long guy with a wide upper radius that knows how to use his body to shield defenders while jumping high in the air to bring down the pass. The physical traits are intriguing but the most exciting skill about Humphreys that stands out the most is his speed. This dude can run and he has the breakaway speed to get by defensive backs at the line but also create separation from them when in the open field. Humphreys is a blazer and someone that can work your intermediate routes but also be your deep threat as well. He is a sure handed receiver that does some of his best work after the catch. His combo of speed, size and elusive playmaking abilities make Humphreys a hard guy to cover. He does need to continue adding power and strength to his body but the frame is there for that to happen over the coming years. So far with recruiting, Humphreys holds offers from Arkansas St., Austin Peay, Charlotte and MTSU, so he is already a D1 guy but I expect many, many others to get involved soon and eventually make him a bonafide Power Five prospect. Junior Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12320370/61531cda688e8805f8bba680 2. (TE) [player_tooltip player_id="222566" first="Jahlin" last="Osborne"] (6’4 220) - Coffee Co. - A talented pass catcher with untapped potential is Osborne and this small town guy is a prospect that has begun to generate solid buzz on the recruiting scene of late but hopefully soon that 1st offer comes through. Sporting nice size and athletic traits, Osborne is a talented young man that brings a lot of tools to the football field that should appeal to collegiate coaches. The Raiders senior tight end moves like a receiver, so he is a guy that can line up out wide and work the slot or deep down the field. He is also a willing blocker that can be built and grown into an in-line blocker down the line as he needs to continue packing on the pounds and muscle before he gets there. What stands out about Osborne to me the most is his upside and potential. This is an athletic pass catcher that doesn’t know his maximum capabilities yet. He presents problems for defenders, especially linebackers who have to cover this guy 15 to 20 yards down the field. Osborne can run and separate away from defenders. He also has good feet and transitions his body well when breaking away from the defense. This Middle Tennessee product has yet to see the offers come his way but I believe that changes soon, especially as he hits the college camp scene and coaches are able to view his athletic upside in person. Osborne could be a summer breakout prospect if all the stars align! Junior Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14773204/618d9eb4664cf308883c6b44 3. (OG) [player_tooltip player_id="102358" first="Lance" last="Williams"] (6’4 285) - Alcoa - Over the last two years, Williams has been one of the more talked about football prospects from this 2023 recruiting class and it has been justified as this East Tennessee product is considered one of the best offensive line recruits in this state. That status has been earned as Williams is a complete mauler in the middle that loves overpowering his opponent and putting them on the ground on a consistent basis. This guy is the best run blocker on the O-line for the in-state 2023 class. You see that when watching his film as Williams shows explosive traits along with the bend, active feet and powerful upper body that drives guys back into the 2nd level. He is so mature as a run blocker that this Tornadoes offensive guard could step onto a college campus and compete for immediate playing time. All the talk above is about Williams run blocking but we can’t look past his ability to pass block as well. He has been trained with his pass blocking over the last several years during the offseason, up against D1 talent, so I feel Williams will be more than adequate enough to handle inside pass rushers on the next level. He is a good athlete that will develop further in this area in college. Williams is also a state champion in wrestling, so not only is the power there but the competitive nature to beat his opponent is there as well. Williams is no doubt a Power Five talent that will only continue to turn heads during college season this summer. Junior Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/1430933/61b0d61c02b2b003fccb50ad 4. (LB) [player_tooltip player_id="150368" first="Tristan" last="Bohannon"] (6’3 215) - Munford - Sitting way under the radar right now is Bohannon but this is a guy that has the physical traits, sudden and athletic movements that translate very well to the collegiate level. He is a two way talent for his Cougars team that plays tight end on offense and performs quite well but for the college game, Bohannon’s upside fits best on defense. His physical traits and suddenness shows up on film at linebacker where this West Tennessee product has the ability and versatility to play inside against or help rush on the outside. Bohannon has a quick 1st step that puts his blocker at a disadvantage which in turn helps him get to the ball quickly. He also has the range to chase down the ball carrier on the sidelines. Bohannon brings a lot of versatility to the linebacking corps and size that makes it hard for the opposition to slow him down. Bohannon is still an unfinished product and has much to develop over this year and beyond. He is still filling into his frame while also continuing to learn the game but watching him on film, Bohannon is an athletic, physical specimen that could develop into a feared linebacker that could be used on defense in a variety of ways. He is big enough with the physical traits to grow into a 3-4 outside linebacker. Whoever eventually signs this guy is getting big upside and a worker that will constantly go at it in the weight room and playing field, trying to become a top tier player. Junior Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12910894/6191d3bc5b3e850a6c3c5b0f 5. (DB) [player_tooltip player_id="150379" first="A.C." last="Mason-Young"] (5’10 172) - Covington - Athletic and football smart with a ball hawk mentality, Mason-Young is one of the best defensive back prospects not only from the West Tennessee region but also the entire state. This dude plays like his hair is on fire every time he steps out onto the field and with his athletic abilities and speed, he constantly places himself around the ball. Mason-Young is an exciting guy to watch on film because he is a natural athlete that really could excel on either side of the ball but his college upside sits best on defense. The Chargers senior prospect plays with a downhill, violent mentality that is looking to stick anyone with the ball. He is also rangy and fast, so he can chase down the ball from sideline to sideline while also falling back into deep coverage. Possibly his biggest trait is his versatility because Mason-Young projects to the college level best at safety or nickel back but he is athletic enough to develop at cover corner. Besides being an athletic ball hawk, Mason-Young is also a technician that plays smart football and is willing to come down into the box and compete versus the run. As you continue to look at his film, Mason-Young is almost as a complete defensive back that you will find in this state for the ‘23 class. He does need to continue packing on the pounds, adding strength and power but the athletic and mental traits are there to step onto a college campus next year and compete for playing time. Junior Film: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12949622/5fab451338638d0d64b837bd
