Charles Brandt (Mahtomedi) 5’11 180lbs. C/o 2024. @Charlie_Brandt_
Play action Long Ball, Play Action Long ball, Play action Long ball is how Charles film begins and it makes me smile. Does a nice job with footwork and handwork (Selling the fake) when he works from under center. He shows a very good understanding of throwing guys open on downfield plays and there is also a nice mix of movement throws on film as well. Would like to see him drive a few more balls with zip into the 15-20 yard range on film but there is no doubt this is a big time QB. Best thing on film- Goalline rep in the dome, play action and roll right he has a defender between him and the Tight end and again a simple play but puts just the right amount of touch on the ball while running right to drop it right over the defenders arms.
Maximus Sims (St. Thomas Academy) 6’0 160lbs. C/o 2024. @MaximusSims
Maximus got himself a little work this year with the Cadets and even though there isn’t a ton of film it was a good start. He especially does a nice job on the move in their boot schemes, he continues to attack downhill and make accurate throws to both level 1 and level 2. There is good athleticism to his game as well. He will need to continue to get stronger but could have a nice couple years coming up. Best thing on film- the second play on the highlight he is rolling left in the red zone and does a great job reading hi low to throw a strike for a touchdown in the back corner of the endzone, an impressive read and great to see him make the throw away from his strong throwing hand.
AJ Boarman AJ Boarman 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Holy Angels | 2023 State MN (Academy of Holy Angels) 6’4 185lbs. C/o 2023. @ajboarman1
Just a little bit of tape for AJ but a good opportunity to see he has the ability to throw the ball deep down the field well. He puts enough air on it for the WR’s to adjust when needed and was able to exploit 1 on 1 match ups against teams that needed to put their safeties in the box vs. the Stars this year. He will need to continue to work on his lower half and weight transfer so he can put a little more zip on the ball and be more efficient with his pocket movement. Best thing on film- deep strike down the left side to a receiver with one on one coverage, AJ shows a good understanding of where the DB is at and that there is no safety help and his throw let’s the WR separate into the middle of the field to make the play.
Grant Muffenbier Grant Muffenbier 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Chanhassen | 2023 State MN (Chanhassen) 6’1 175lbs. C/o 2023. @GMuffenbier
Grant does a lot of nice work from in the pocket particularly throwing outside the numbers on go routes, posts and slants. He has a good feel for footwork and his timing is fun to watch. I think there is some room for him to grow in throwing on the run, although he has a solid fundamental skill set there already. Best thing on film- Very early on the tape he has a labeled 3rd and 10 where he takes off to pick it up with his feet. As soon as he gets to the line to gain he calmly executes a nice slide, the clip shows me he has special awareness to know where he needed to get to as well as the smarts to then get down and be ready to play the next play.
Tyson Schultz Tyson Schultz 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Bloomington Jefferson | 2024 State MN (Bloomington Jefferson) 6’4 190lbs. C/o 2024
Most of Tyson’s film I believe for now is at the lower levels being that he is a youngster. However, he is a 6’4” youngster with a ton of potential. He shows a nice variety of throws on film and although he needs to work on his base and feet he has enough natural talent to get the ball to most spots on the field accurately. As I say most of the time there is plenty of room to grow, but with his frame it makes that statement all the more exciting. Best thing on film- about a 3rd of the way in you can see him work through a progression (Which quite frankly isn’t happening a ton at this age) his eyes and feet are focused on the perimeter and you can see his head snap to read number 2, he brings his feet with him and throws a strike over the middle of the field.
Eddie Dossantos Eddie Dossantos 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Providence Academy | 2023 MN – (Providence Academy) 6’0 185lbs. C/o 2023. @EddieDossantos_
Another guy with limited film thus far but fun to watch none the less. Eddie does a good job getting the ball in and out of his hands quickly and is very accurate on 1st level throws. There are also a couple of nice scrambles and designed runs on tape. I am excited to have more to evaluate in the future. Best thing on film really is just seeing how he operates in their quick screen scheme, sure it seems like such an easy thing to flip a screen out to a WR, but frankly if you don’t do it quickly and with great accuracy the play is dead before it starts.
