The Little Rock Parkview Patriots are becoming used to make deep playoff runs and the 2021 season was no different. Parkview finished the 2021 season with a 10-3 record and a deep playoff run which included victories over Searcy and Jonesboro. We are going to take a look at the key players from the 2021 season and give a brief look ahead to the 2022 football season.
Looking first, at the offensive side of the ball. The Parkview Patriots will have a new signal caller under center in 2022. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="117318" first="Jaylon" last="White"] accepted a scholarship to Ole Miss and will battle for playing time in the secondary. White ran the ball and threw the ball well for the Patriots connecting with players like [player_tooltip player_id="75099" first="Parker" last="Perry"] throughout the 2021 season. Parkview fans can look for [player_tooltip player_id="149583" first="Jalan" last="Jointer"], Eric Mcgehee, Bobby Chaten II, and [player_tooltip player_id="221262" first="Chase" last="Forte"] to have an opportunity to earn some snaps at the quarterback spot in 2022.
The wide receiver position for the Patriots has some talented performers that can turn short gains into explosive plays. Junior wide receiver Ramar Smith has the potential to make big plays happen in the slot or split out wide. Freshman wide receiver Jermaine Penny has good speed and a talent for getting open and will be intriguing player to watch for the Patriots. Junior wide receiver Hunter Austin showed that he has the ability to turn a short gain into an explosive play. [player_tooltip player_id="75099" first="Parker" last="Perry"] is going to be a tough wide receiver to replace but the Patriots have plenty of talented players returning at the wide receiver position.
At the running back position, the Patriots lose [player_tooltip player_id="75070" first="James" last="Jointer"] this season. Jointer will be suiting up for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the fall. The talent that Parkview has the running back position is extremely impressive. Darien Bennet is one of the most explosive running backs in the state of Arkansas and should perform well this season. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="75132" first="Willie" last="Eackles"] will have an opportunity to see some carries this fall. Freshman running back Cameron Settles is a running back that can carry the ball between the tackles or cut it outside. Montero Elston can work at the running back spot as well and his speed will give opposing defenses plenty of headaches this coming season.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots have plenty of talented players returning for the 2022 season. Defensive lineman Isiah McKenzie does an impressive job of getting into the opposing backfield. He can rush the passer or contain the running game in an impressive fashion. A prospect to keep an eye on is freshman defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="236139" first="Omarion" last="Robinson"]. The Patriots coaching staff does an excellent job of aligning the talented Robinson all over the field. Robinson has the potential to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the state of Arkansas over the next few years. The Parkview Patriots are going to be a team that is difficult to contend with in 2022 and a fun team to watch as well.
