Christian Medlockzzz Christian Medlockzzz 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Homewood-Flossmoor | 2023 IL Twitter
Mr. Medlock is an offensive tackle that has a good frame and size to him, he doesn’t have much film from his Junior Season but his size is nevertheless one to keep an eye on as he stands at 6’6 315. One trait that he does need to improve is his footwork as it’s inconsistent throughout his film but again with such a small sample to go off of, I’m sure it’s going to improve during his senior season campaign. With that being said, when he’s working in line he provides glimpses of having a strong initial punch on drive blocks. This results in him jolting the defender upright and uses this to reposition his hands inside to control the rep. He also provides glimpses of being able to drive the defender down the line of scrimmage to wash the defender down on the play creating a running lane for the ball carrier. In one clip, he’s able to down block the defensive end that attempts to shoot through the B gap and falls on top of him eliminating the defender from the play. Switching gears to pass protection, this is where I feel his footwork isn’t as consistent in terms of his kick step. This is seen in one clip where this young man slides out and latches onto the defender quickly. Once he does, the defender tries to sink his hips to turn the corner but this young man recognizes this and is able to instead put the defender into the dirt after he adjusts. In this clip, he has choppy feet on his kick step which gave the defender enough room to sink his hips instead of being tied up. Again, I’m certain this is going to improve during his Senior Season Campaign as he continues to hone his craft and develop. Currently holds an offer from Southern Illinois University. Highlights
Mylin Mosely Mylin Mosely 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Mt. Zion | 2023 State IL Twitter
Mr. Mosley is an offensive guard that might get bumped out to the offensive tackle position standing at 6’5 265 and he provides glimpses of being able to drive the defender down the line of scrimmage to wash the defender down when he’s blocking in-line. Here, he also provides an insight into firing off the ball and latching on quickly out of his stance before driving the defender into the dirt. There’s a clip in his highlights when he’s blocking in-line where he gets out of his stance quickly as he delivers his initial punch to get his hands inside. He does this right before he drives his feet through the whistle and pancakes the defender. Throughout his film, he provides an insight into his aggressiveness at the point of attack whether he’s blocking in-line or pulling/working up to the second-level defenders. There’s a clip in his highlights where he pulls through the B gap and delivers a strong punch on the linebacker cutting off the defender’s flow to the play. This results in a running lane being created for his ball carrier. In terms of getting to second-level blocks, he can get there by either pulling or working up after he chips the defensive tackle or defensive end. Both of which, he uses a strong initial blow to either put the second-level defender into the dirt or tie up the defender for his ball carrier to get by. Switching gears to pass protection, he provides a glimpse of being able to anchor as he absorbs a bull rush and can tie up rushing defenders at the line of scrimmage as well. In one clip in his highlights, he gets set to block quickly out of his stance but there’s no rushing defender coming into his gap. After this young man checks his gap he keeps his head on a swivel and ends up doubling with the offensive center delivering a heavy hit on the defensive tackle. Upon doing so, he ends up knocking the defender down and does this a few more times in his highlights as well. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Quenton Rogers Quenton Rogers 6'2" | 195 lbs | WR Mahomet-Seymour | 2023 State IL Twitter
Mr. Rogers is a deep threat receiver that can win over the top and has the foot quicks to take a short/underneath route the distance. He can also be used as a return man further showcasing his foot quicks. In the first clip in his highlights, he’s in kick return and once he secures the kickoff he gets vertical finding an alley along the sideline to his left. Once he does, he’s able to stop as the pursuing defenders are closing in on him and he uses a quick cut to hit the cutback lane toward the middle of the field breaking a long run on the return. Here, we get an insight into his long speed as he’s able to outrun pursuit angles on his way into the endzone for a touchdown. He has the lateral quickness to turn the corner when running jet sweeps and he provides glimpses of being able to adjust last second to secure the catch with the defender on his hip pocket. If you try to press this young man, you better be sure you have help over the top as he showcases the ability to have quick feet at the line of scrimmage to gain either inside or outside release. In one clip in his highlights, he gains inside release and is able to gain the step advantage on the defender allowing him to stack the defender on the fly route to secure the catch on the deep shot downfield further showcasing his ability to win over the top with his foot quicks. All of that being said, the area that I believe he’s a game-changer in is his run after catch ability. Once he secures the catch, he gets upfield quickly and broke a few long runs for touchdowns on the play. If he doesn’t break a run for a touchdown, he still can still gain a chunk of yards. When he runs receiver screens, he uses his foot quicks to get vertical quickly and broke a few of them as he blows by the second-level defenders for a touchdown. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Trystyn Schacht Trystyn Schacht 5'8" | 200 lbs | RB Iroquois West | 2023 State IL Twitter
Mr. Schacht is a tailback that provides an insight into his ability to have the vision to find running lanes between the tackles and at times he can use quick cuts to hit the hole quickly. He also provides glimpses of being able to run through weak grab tackles as he keeps his feet driving. Once he gets through the line of scrimmage on inside the tackle runs, he showcases his ability to use his foot quicks to outrun pursuit angles to get into the endzone for a touchdown. If he doesn’t he can still break a long run on the play. When he’s running outside the tackles, he provides an insight into following his lead blockers before turning the corner. In the first clip in his highlights, he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner before getting vertical and using his foot quicks to get into the endzone for the touchdown as he outruns the pursuit angles. Both on inside and outside the tackle runs, once this young man gets through the line of scrimmage he can gain a step advantage on the second-level defenders where he has the ability to break a long run for the touchdown on the play. There’s also a play in his highlights where he’s used in the air attack. Here, he goes out on a swing route but the quarterback turns into scramble drill. Upon recognizing this, this young man then plants his foot to get upfield along the sideline before he dives laying out to secure the catch for the first down. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Josh Lambert Josh Lambert 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Downers Grove North | 2023 State IL Twitter
Mr. Lambert can play both inside and outside linebacker, both of which he provides an insight into his gap shooting ability when going against the inside run. Upon doing so, he can gain penetration on the play to disrupt the play in the backfield and can come away with the tackle for loss. If he doesn’t come away with the tackle for loss, he can meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage where he can stick the defender in the hole for no gain on the play. Both of these traits are seen throughout his highlights. This young man also flows to the ball well as he triggers downhill quickly in close space and once he makes contact on the defender he delivers a heavy hit. When it’s an outside the tackle run, he provides an insight into being able to disengage blocks on the perimeter to secure the tackle when he’s splitting the difference between the slot receiver and the offensive tackle. When he’s in the box, he’s the contain defender at times. Here, he takes the block head-on before he disengages to close on the ball carrier at/behind the line of scrimmage for no gain. This is also seen in the first clip in his highlights where it’s a receiver screen. This young man, again, takes the block head-on and plays through the block before he disengages to close on the defender to secure the tackle on the perimeter. Let’s not forget that if he’s coming on a blitz he’s more than likely going to get to the quarterback for the sack either when he’s coming off the edge or through the B gap. This happens as he can time his blitz well and is quick to get through once the ball is snapped as the offensive lineman isn’t set to block as he does so which results in this young man coming away with quarterback pressures and quarterback sacks. Currently holds no offers. Highlights
Chris Taylor Chris Taylor 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Normal Community | 2023 State IL
Mr. Taylor plays tailback and is also used in the return game as well where he can set his team up in a good starting field position. In the first clip in his highlights, he secures the kickoff and uses his foot quicks to get vertical. Once he’s in open space, he weaves in/out of defenders as he gets into the endzone for the touchdown. This young man primarily runs outside the tackles and when it is an inside the tackle run he bounces the play to the outside. In the second clip in his highlights, he’s able to get along the sideline before stopping on a dime to make the first defender miss in open space. He then gets upfield again to gain extra yards on the play before being brought down on the play. He’s also used in jet sweeps out of the slot where he showcases glimpses of his lateral quickness to turn the corner but isn’t able to break many long runs as a result, rather gain yards on the play to stay ahead of the sticks. One trait to keep an eye on is his jump cuts and the way he weaves in/out of defenders in open space as he uses this to make defenders miss providing glimpses of his elusiveness. At the end of his highlights, we do get a few clips of him in pass protection. In one of these clips in his highlights, he’s able to pick up the outside linebacker that’s walked up on the line of scrimmage. Here, this young man latches on quickly and once he does he keeps his feet driving through the block driving the defender out of the play taking away the rushing threat. Currently holds no offers.
