Under Armour finished up it’s camp tour with a final stop in Baltimore. The camp brought out not only some of the best in the DMV, but top athletes from surrounding states. With over 180 athletes in attendance, we will cover what QBs and WRs stood out from the DMV.
Van Buren, who is the Top Quarterback in the Class of 2024 and the 2nd ranked player overall in the state of MD, is already an Under Armour All American Game Invitee. He showed the selection committee that they made the right choice on Sunday. The sophomore QB had a cannon for an arm, moves around very well in the pocket, and showed plenty of accuracy. He is early in his recruitment process, but he already has offers from Maryland, Penn State, Michigan, Memphis, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Weaver is the 5th ranked Quarterback in the state of Maryland, and made a valid case to move up in the rankings with his performance at the camp on Sunday. The 6’5’’ QB was threw with pinpoint accuracy in the 1v1 portion of the camp and was arguably one of the best deep ball throwers of the day. Weaver is playing well on the 7v7 circuit and plays in a QB friendly system that will continue to showcase his skill set. I look for his recruiting to pick up this year.
Shelton, the 3rd ranked Quarterback in Virginia for the Class of 2023, won All Region and All Metro this season. He was one of the top statistical passers this fall, and he took advantage of his opportunity at the camp to show why. Shelton was great throwing on the run and consistently put the ball in the right place for his receivers.
Heath, the 3rd ranked receiver in VA, was one of the more exciting athletes to watch on the day. He won almost every rep that he took, and made opposing DBs look silly with ease. Heath also goes in and out of breaks at top speed smoothly that makes it hard for defenders to cover him. He has offers from Temple, West Virginia, Richmond, UMass, Norfolk, and James Madison.
Knox, the 4th ranked receiver on our list in the state of VA for the Class of 2024, is a 1st Team All State and 1st Team All Region selection. He was one of the best route runners that we saw on the day, has great top end speed, is a quick twitch guy that is explosive coming off of the line.
Billups was one of the MVPs at Wide Receiver for the day. He combination of size and speed caused a problem for Defensive Backs during the camp. He showed the ability to blow past receivers, has dependable hands, and the body control to use his frame for leverage to make contested catches. He is also the 4th ranked receiver in the state of VA.
Smith is one of the top overall athletes in the class of 2024. He is the 6th ranked Wide Receiver in the state, but is also possibly one of the top Defensive Backs. Smith was one of the recipients of the WR MVP Award on the day, and was one of the most shifty athletes in 1v1s during the camp. His ability to get past defenders with his speed allowed him to win plenty of reps, but looking at his game film you see that he can be used in a number of ways during a game.
