Last year, while there were plenty of 2025 prospects that touched the field of play within the state of Georgia, those who did so at the QB position happen to be some of the more intriguing players to track. To receive a decent bit of playing time at that age is not typical, especially due to growth factors, and player’s abilities to grasp the speed of the game at that level. Regardless of the challenges, there are prospects that find ways to shine, and slowly make a name for themselves, while grabbing the attention of high school football fans across the country, and state as a whole. Below, we included 5 up and coming QB’s that will gradually see more time, and responsibility for their teams in the coming years.
Antwann Hill Jr- Houston County
We can’t help but think, even though this list is loaded with potential, that Hill could become something special for Houston County. At this point of his high school football career, he has already received plenty of offers, but it is his style of play, and ceiling that makes him most attractive as a prospect. Not only does he have a long, tall frame, but he has the ability to add weight to his body, that can make him even more effective as he gets older. For now though, he is still able to tower over defenders, see the field, and let the ball rip. He plays with good touch, velocity, arm strength, and an ability place the ball well, even when in tight windows. Hill plays with good timing, and has a solid release, but needs to make sure he works on his transition of weight, and the way he squares his shoulders. Nevertheless, he has plenty of upside, and is one of the top up and coming QB’s in the state, as well as his class. Look for him to be a big part of his team’s success next year.
Duke Johnson- Dodge County
Johnson’s best football playing days are already here, as he does a great job of seeing the field, and making standard passes, and plays for his team, further contributing to the overall offensive game plan. He plays with good ball placement, and decent arm strength, showing that he does a good job of getting the football down the field. While he has a bit of an awkward throwing motion, and holds the ball a bit high, he still finds ways to get the ball out quickly, and to the right receivers. Johnson also throws with good velocity, but one thing we think would help him greatly is to develop an ability to throw with good timing, and touch to his receivers.
Marte Barton- Stephenson
When evaluating Barton, it is evident that he has plenty of talent, with a very high ceiling. As of now, he has plenty of developing to do though, as he is a bit raw, and his mechanics clearly reveal his youth. He not only has bad feet in the pocket, but he has an awkward release, and throwing motion at times. Despite this, he has a heck of an arm, with great arm strength, and velocity. This allows him to get the ball down the field to his targets, especially on deep balls. Barton also throws with a bit of a zip on the ball, and he seems to process the game at a decent rate as well, allowing his athleticism to be a strength when needed. Next season, we think he will continue to develop, and will have a shot at seeing some playing time, while also giving his team a chance to win ball games.
Tripp Nix- White County
While it was tough to find clips of Nix’ progression, and success last season, we were able to recover plenty of statistics to back his high potential, that only further solidifies the hype behind him going into next season. Last season, Nix passed for over 1,300 yards, and 12 TD’s. In addition to this, he also racked up a 93.4 passer rating, while also completing almost 100 passes by the time the season ended. Nix accomplished this over the span of 8 games, and we fully expect him to continue to add on to this success next season as he develops physically, and in his ability to process the game, and throw the ball at a more mature rate.
Dayson Griffis Dayson Griffis 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Appling County | 2025 GA – Appling County
Watching Griffis play can be a joy, especially due to the high potential he possesses that can’t help but leap off of the film. To start, he not only throws with good touch, but he already has decent feet in the pocket. While his overall pocket presence has a ton of room for growth, we see that he does a good job of moving through his reads. He passes with an elongated throwing motion, slowing his release, but his arm strength, and touch on the ball makes for great passes. These accurate throws consistently puts his receivers in good positions to make plays as well. Overall, we love his production, but would like to see him square his shoulders better, as we think this could help take his passing to the next level, especially when he is on the run.
