Continue ReadingWest Forsyth High was another one of the programs in the state of Georgia that managed to break into the playoffs last year despite falling short in the first round. Regardless of their performance once they made if there, we firmly believe that they have great talent on their roster, and that next year will be big for their team in terms of being able to replenish talent in particular areas of their defense, while also being able to further develop some of their returning talent. Nevertheless, we think that they will find ways to make a breakthrough, and not only make the playoffs, but potentially win a playoff game depending on who they are matched up with. In order to do this though, they will be leaning heavily on some of their top returners. Below, we have listed some of these prospects, who we feel are worth keeping an eye on.
Peyton Streko Peyton Streko 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB West Forsyth | 2023 State GA – RB
Peyton was one of the top leaders for West Forsyth last year, as he was not only a big time rusher for the offense, but he was great at catching the ball out of the backfield. With the ball in his hands, he not only runs very low to the ground, but he runs behind his pads with an energy that is hard to stop. As a runner, Streko is very balanced, but he also is very fast, and strong, helping him to run through contact, and gain some of the hard yards necessary to win football games. In addition to this, he also has a good jump cut, and his quick twitch through the holes will most definitely make him a force to be reckoned with next year.
Ryder Stewart- RB
Stewart may be a young, 2024 prospect, but he is the perfect lighting, to Streko’s thunder. He runs with a burst, and shifty twitch that allows him to shake defenders, and run for positive yards. Stewart also runs at a good pad level, and his eyes for the defense at hand is a huge benefiting factor, as it allows him make plays for his team. In addition to this, we also like the way he is able to stick his foot in the ground, get up field, and turn the corner. Next year, his ability to do so will most likely improve, and make him lethal to deal with.
Raleigh Herbert- MLB
Herbert will be a big time returner next season for the team’s defense. His big 6’2, 225 pound frame allows him to not only meet ball carriers with great strength, but he is able to leverage his size in a way that makes for easier, and more productive tackles. This is due to his length, height, and frame. Herbert also plays with good hands, and solid pass rush moves, which allows him to maneuver around opposing offensive players, and pressure the QB, or make plays in the backfield when in pursuit. Ultimately, when paired with his aggressive playing style, he tends to make game altering plays for his team.
Brady Gillis- DE
When evaluating Gillis, it is easy to see why he would be a big time returner for his team next year. To start, not only does he get off the ball well, creating pressure on the opposing QB, and ball carriers, but he also has the speed, and length necessary to make spur of the moment plays. With this, he also plays well in pursuit, and his feet off of the ball tends to be a bit more polished then most. If he can continue to capitalize on these strengths, he will most definitely be a difference maker for his team in 2022.
